Probably no wrestling. There's been talk of going to a Sumo show. I don't know if I want to watch 3 hours of sumo though.

As for the jacket...maybe! Although I'd just get a black one instead of blue or red like the wrestlers would get.

Sumo would be fun I think. They used to especially give out the Ribera jackets to gaijins touring All or New Japan. I believe it all started with Bruiser Brody & I think he wanted Ribera merch to wear and him & Stan Hansen were the first to get the jackets. There was a silver jacket too I think there's a photo of Road Warrior Hawk wearing one.

I so desperately want to go to Japan someday, but that dream is becoming increasingly impossible as the years go by.

I am back! And I am totally stuffed. I'll post a lot about Japan probably tomorrow, and post a heap of pictures and videos.

Sneak preview information! I saw a giant panda pooping.

I took care of the place, but there's now a fire in null, the general forum had a slight flood, video games forum crashed and I gave Skynet a bunch of 503 errors.

Yeah, that was me.

Welcome home.

If I want my 10 year old son working in a burlesque house, then my 10 year old son is going to work in a burlesque house.

Now, Zoidberg, you're gonna hear a lot of crazy talk about Bart working in a burlesque house...

Alrighty, it's time to post some Japan stuff. I'll do segments at a time. First up are the systems and games bought.

I bought 5 consoles, all from the junk sections at different Hard Offs.

Image

The PC Engine Duo has a lot of scuffs on top, but it should be fixable. It was about 1/5th of the cost of a non-Junk Duo.

Silverback got a few junk systems like an orange Gamecube and a Super Famicom. He also got this cool non-junk Twin Famicom.

Image

This first pic is of Super Famicom games that were from Hard Off Junk sections.

Image

The 2 WonderSwan games in this pic were from a HO junk section. Wouldn't have a clue what they are, but they were like A$3 each.

Image

Image

I got the loose PC Engine R-Type from Retro Game Camp, which was the first store we went to in Akiharbara. The R-Types in cases were from Super Potato.

That's a good haul, especially wonderswan, Saturn and yossy island!

And a spice GameCube is always good, his GameCube is better than yours simply by being in the correct colour.

Tell us more about this wonderswan!

I prefer the purple Gamecube. I did find a orange GC pad in the junk, so he got one of those as well. I'll post my controllers tomorrow.

The Wonderswan was a black and white (then colour) handheld released in the late 90s by Bandai as a cheaper, more powerful 16-bit alternative to the Game Boy. It did alright, selling about 3.5m but then the GBA came out and crushed it. Square, Capcom and Namco released games for it.

The one I got was only A$10, so if I can get it working, cool, if not, it's a nice thing to have on the shelf.

Those games I said are Wonderswan games, actually aren't WS games, they are for the Bandai VTech, which was a system they released in the mid-90s.

So now you have to plan a trip to Japan to get a Bandai VTech... And also the other variants of Wonderswans since you're there.

Well, there is talking about going back there. It probably won't be for two to three years though.

Here are pictures of some of the game stores we went to. All the games stores were cool and had something worth getting, but my faviourites were Eco Town in Hachioji, which took an hour and a half to get to (2 trains and a bus), and had all the "Off" stores in the building, including the delightfully named Liquor Off. My other fave was Retro Game Camp in Akiharbara, a small-ish two floor store that was packed with good stuff.

Liquoroff sounds like something Mr. Lahey would have with the rest of Sunnyvale trailer park.

Lots of Top loading NESeses in your pictures, in the flesh I've only ever seen 2, one at a friends and one in a shop so seeing stores with multiples is confusing.

I've seen fewer top loading NESeses than virtual boys somehow... Was good of the store to let you know that they malfunction, but that was a feature not a bug.

Got any more Sega stuff?
