Re: The Indy Wrestling Thread (Spoilers)
I'm guessing he's rusty. He hasn't done commentary since 2009 I think. But then again after ECW closed he only did a few jobs like Women's Extreme Wrestling and one XPW show and was good enough on One Night Stand to get a full time job in WWE.

Joey's been fired by Chikara, Beyond Wrestling and some other places. FloSlam aren't happy with him.

Re: The Indy Wrestling Thread (Spoilers)
I don't blame Gabe since it was his show and he's trying to stay on WWE's good side with their semi-relationship. I think CHIKARA probably over reacted since they're a niche promotion that aren't going to lose any fans if Styles stayed since they're all smarks who respect Joey's ECW legacy so would let his bad attempt at trying to make a funny slide. Plus the next show is in December and this will probably be forgotten by then.

Chikara are a family friendly promotion so it's not a surprise they let him go. Quack's blog was a bit much though.

Re: The Indy Wrestling Thread (Spoilers)
This is kind of weird to see people acting shocked about deathmatches again. During the Monday Night Wars TV shows would run stuff like this about various ECW knock off Indies and act shocked people would do this.

Re: The Indy Wrestling Thread (Spoilers)
There were too many indies trying to copy ECW, especially those like XPW and 3PW. Deathmatches to me are kinda passe and are the anti-thesis of pro-wrestling. Something like a steel cage or chain match is enough for an old school, what you could call a 'blood feud' because somebody, if not both guys, would be wearing the crimson mask. However those feud concluding matches or ones which branched out in another branch of the story arc would mean something and are memorable to this day.
But throwing guys thru broken glass, thumbtacks, light tubes and setting them on fire etc is just too much and really there's no where to go with it. It's like with WWE, they pushed the envelope too far in the Ruthless Aggression era and there was no where realistically they could go so they went 360 and started at the beginning again with the PG stuff. That being said some of the ECW barbed wire matches with the Funker, Cactus, Sabu, Sandman were memorable but that was because they didn't do it every single match. If they did it would soon dilute the impact. There's only finite times you can see somebody do a wacky high spot and beat themselves up & Deathmatches, although they worked well in Japan with FMW et al it doesn't equate to longevity. Plus FMW changed their product to get away from the deathmatches also to become more WWEesque before they went out of business.

I don't know, but probably not because I think he has health issues.
