Reading through those posts, do you think EvilN is still calling Kudos on things?

Oh, I member! There were more Kudos going around DCE than all the copies of Metropolis Street Racer combined!

Super Mario 64 Just Got a Hard Mode With Lots of Gore & Blood

Now here is something cool for all Super Mario 64 fans. Modder ‘TheIncredibleHolc’ has released a mod for Super Mario 64 that adds to it a new Hard Mode, with lots of gore and blood.

This mod started as a port of Kaze’s Unfair Mario 64. However, it quickly evolved into a new romhack for the classic Super Mario game.

So, Super Mario 64 Gore/Hard Mode features 120 completely obtainable stars. It also has 20 collectable challenge trophies with a special prize if you unlock them all.

The mod changes the game’s player behavior. So, get ready for splats, crunches, chomps, and lots of new ways to die. All the original enemies now act in new and tougher ways. Some levels are also harder than before. Plus, you can discover new secret boss fights that weren’t in the original game.

Alongside the standard Hard Mode, there is also the “I Wanna Be The Guy Mode” Mode. This mode plays identical to the mod, but you start at zero stars. On death, all progress (Stars, keys, flags) will all be reset back to 0.

Finally, you will find some togglable options in the Mod Menu. Right now, the mod offers the following ones. Romhack Compatibility, Enable Hell on Game-over, Enable PVP deaths, Enable IWBTG Mode, and Enable Dizzyness.

You can download this mod from this link. Do note that you will also need sm64coopdx, otherwise the mod will not work. sm64coopdx is an online multiplayer project for the Super Mario 64 PC port.

Speaking of Super Mario 64, you should also try this Super Mario Bros Remake. Then we have the Super Luigi 64 Mod. These mods should also work on the original N64 hardware console. However, what shocked everyone was this native DX12 unofficial port. Not only that but we also got an incredible Ray Tracing Version of it. Oh, and there are also mods that add HD Textures, a high-quality Mario 3D model, and better draw distance.

I also suggest taking a look at Render96. Render96 is a free-to-play fan modification for Super Mario 64. The goal of this project is to match the game’s promotional artwork during the late 1990s. The team has recreated every model and asset using images found online from the Nintendo 64 era. You can get the latest version of Render96 and the HD Texture Pack from here and here.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

A new N64 Flash Cart is out - And its only $50. The SummerCart64 is a custom-made cartridge that allows you to develop and play games on the N64 console. It is the first N64 flash cart that is feature complete and completely open source.

SummerCart64 employs features such as 64DD hardware emulation, automatic save backup during gameplay, or ability to behave like a stock Game Pak with direct mode, making it the best choice for both players and game developers.

Damn looks like it's sold out on Aliexpress already. I'll have to keep an eye on this, the N64 is one system that definitely benefits from playing on original hardware.

Open-source hardware is nice so it will continue on even if the original creator moves on.

Some more Switch 2 leaks. Take with a grain of salt etc., etc.
