Wow Nintendo must be cleaning out the attic (Wii U) before they pack the Switch away and launch their new system (Switch U)

Baffling yet so on brand for them. They're obviously stalling for time now, there's no other way to explain a month where a big 3 gaming company releases an alarm clock and streaming music service.

Next is a series of toasters shaped like various consoles that toast character faces into the bread.

This is probably the least surprising news about the new Switch.

People had favourite DS games? :olol:
I guess Metroid prime hunters or GTA China town wars as they were the only 2 good games on the system.

It was a terrible system. Dog shit buttons and D-Pad, atrocious battery life considering how criminally underpowered it was, stupid easy to lose stylus, it weighed more than an original Xbox and was about as comfortable to hold and use as a mark one Atari Lynx (and with worse buttons than a lynx somehow). And with all that combined it had nothing worth playing other than Mario games with touch screen bullshit.

It's like the Wii of portable consoles, but at least the wii and its gimmick eventually got some good games.

I suppose that when the lite came out, it fixed most of the problems with the original hardware, and was indeed the best Gameboy advance you could get, but that didn't make the DS part any better.
And the 3DS was awesome (even in 2D only mode) because it finally had good games on it.

The original DS was the worst thing they'd done since the Virtual boy. Which also had better controls, and better games... Somehow.

Now when the PSP turns 20 next year, THERE'S a system worth gushing over. And when the Wii turns 20 in a couple of years, there's the biggest console redemption arc of all time. Nothing started as shit but became as great as the Wii in the history of gaming.

My dude, what? That is one hot take. The DS was a fantastic handheld and was the birthplace of several franchises. About the only comment I agree with was the original DS was pretty bad, but I played my DS Lite to near death.

And let’s not forget that one of the best franchises of all time launched on the DS: Phoenix Wright, a series so good I named my kids after characters in it.

This is actually one of the coldest takes I have in all of gaming, I hated the system when it was new, and I hate it now.
About the only colder take I have is that Rareware were the best developer in the World between 1991 and 2001, and I knew that in 2002.

It's not like one of the few times I was wrong and much later found appreciation for systems which at the time I didn't like (like the Wii, the Saturn, the Wonderswan, and the game gear)
It was garbage with few fun games then, and it's garbage with few fun games now. It's like they weren't even trying from 2004-2009. Fortunately they got good again, but their biggest success in sales was when they were pumping out shit.

Maybe shit is a BIT harsh, but everyone else was trying new things and making great games in 2004-9. The DS (And Wii in early days) were piss farting around putting waggles and touch into the same exact games they'd been making for 20 years, waggles and touch aren't innovation, they are waggles and touch.

Of all the portables I've ever owned, I have always had the least appreciation for the DS because I had the least fun playing DS games, it's that simple really. It's not quite as bad as the Wii which I felt cheated after I brought it home, but it is something I am glad I got very, very cheap.

I have however found a new love for a LOT of Gameboy games now I have a device with a good screen and a phenomenal battery life. I doubt I'll ever love the DS.
The 3DS though, it's what the original DS should and could have been from the very beginning.

Pokemon, Tetris and Mario had a stranglehold on us back in college. Games with nicer graphics (ala PSP) felt better on a TV back compared to LCD.

Sony always has impressive hardware I will admit. But the original PSP did launch its UMDs across the room with a quick flick of the wrist :olol:

Reading through those posts, do you think EvilN is still calling Kudos on things?
