I ended up here while searching for the last games released on the PS1. On that page there was a link to 10 PS1 games held back by the hardware so I figured I'd check it out. It is one of the stupidest most worthless list I've ever seen. I hope an AI wrote this otherwise it was written by one of the least sharp tools in the shed.
First is Metal Gear Solid it was held back by the PS1 hardware because it had to be released on multiple discs.
Next up is Final Fantasy. They were held back because they were released on multiple discs.
Third is Ape Escape. The PS1 hardware held it back because it isn't playable on a PS3 because it needs a dualshock controller to be plugged in.
Fourth is Arcade Racing Games and they show a screenshot of Gran Turismo. You know that game that is well known for it's arcade mode....
Anyways arcade racing games were held back by PS1 hardware because the PS1 only had two controller ports. This one is so dumb I'm just going to post exactly what they said
Coming in at numba five he muh man he muh man he muh Spida man! This one was held back by PS1 hardware because it doesn't control as well as later games in the series. And also because it was good but it suffered as a result..... Here again is an insane quote straight from the siteThe fact that the Nintendo 64 didn't have this limitation held many arcade racers back from being played on the PS1 and meant that, if they had the option, gamers would opt to play most split-screen games on a different console if they had the option.
Sixth is Crash Team Racing. They put the same damn reason as arcade racers. It suffered because the PS1 only has two controller ports so people would rather play Mario Kart 64 since the N64 had 4-player support wihtout a multi-tap.However, there was a Spider-Man game all the way back on the PS1 that was fairly good for the time it was released, but definitely suffered as a result.
Seven=Tomb Raider. It suffered due to it having tank controls because the dual-shock wasn't out when Tomb Raider was first released. You know because you can't have non tank controls on a d-pad. So while the game has tank controls that has nothing to do with "being held back by PS1 hardware"
Eight is Diablo because it took up 10 blocks on the memory card.
Nine is Riven because just like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy it was released on multiple discs.
Ten is......Premier Manager 98? Because it took up an entire memory card to save.
I'm sure there are tons of shit websites like this out there but seeing as how I rarely visit random websites nowadays this is the first really stupid one I've seen. There was ZERO effort put into this. The thing is the other lists on there I've looked at were all halfway decent and made sense. The one I went to the site for was perfectly fine.

For some reason the held back by PS1 hardware one is just batshit insane!
