The Sega Saturn 3 will include a cartridge slot just like the original Saturn but this time it will be put to better use. The SS3 is said to be compatible with Master System,Genesis,32X and of course SG-1000 cartridges. The backwards compatibility doesn't end there the SS3 will feature a Super Ray Optical Media drive that will allow it to read CDs,GDs,HD-DVD,Blu-ray,Video CD and Kodak Picture CD. So that means backwards compatibility with the Sega CD and CD32X, Original Sega Saturn,Sega Dreamcast and even Sega Naomi! A Sega Naomi compilation is rumored to come with the system as a free bonus. The compilation is called "I moan Ages Vol:1"
The SS3 is said to also be compatible with the Sega Model 2 and 3 arcade boards. How can this be? Sega said they will be releasing compilation discs called "Ledo Mages" but you can apparently also just burn the roms to a standard CD-R and the SS3 will run them and automatically map the controls to the SS3 pad! Speaking of the SS3 controller we have managed to sneak a pic of a prototype SS3 controller!
