- A nude photo of former World Heavyweight Champion Vader, which was taken by him in bed, was uploaded to his Twitter today. Vader apologized and blamed it on his ex-girlfriend "hacking" his account. The photo was deleted but one fan tweeted that his 7 year old son saw the photo while playing with his phone. Vader responded, "U would have to talk to my ex."
Florida Judge Pamela Campbell on Wednesday denied Gawker Media’s motion for a retrial in the Hulk Hogan sex-video case. She also ruled that she will not reduce the $140 million in damages the jury awarded the ex-pro wrestler in March. In a statement, lawyers for Hogan (né Terry Bollea) applauded the ruling in a statement: “Gawker has failed and continues to fail in recognizing their obligation to Bollea for their reprehensible behavior and method of doing what they call journalism. Their refusal to accept responsibility for their conduct and denial of the obvious continues to drive their litigation strategy.”
Veteran wrestler Gilberto "Gypsy Joe" Melendez passed away on Wednesday night at the age of 82.
Melendez began his wrestling career at the age of 18 in 1951 and wrestled his last match on January 7, 2011 at the age of 76. Dave Meltzer noted on F4Wonline that Melendez was known for years as "the oldest active pro wrestler." He retired after needing a foot amputation due to gout related complications.
Melendez was inducted into the Nashville Professional Hall of Fame by Mick Foley on November 7, 2015.
