Re: MMA Thread (UFC/Bellator et al) UFC 207 Rowdy Ronda Returns
Jim Rome is his rumored replacement. God no. That guy is such a douchebag. Just a phony "I STIR UP CONTROVERSY!" no talent doing a gimmick.
I like Rogan but I will turn the volume off if Jim Rome announces it.
(In context this was over Rome mocking him for retiring due to too many concussions.)

Rousey was slaughtered. Hard to believe it's the same person that used to beat everyone with ease.

Rousey got $3m for having her face smashed in, Nunes got $100k + another $100k for winning.
How long until Ronda shows up in WWE?

Nunes is scary. Like if Wanderlei Silva had a daughter with the toughest inmate at a female prison.
It sucks Cruz lost. He is the Nick Bockwinkel of the UFC. Nobody does the "condescending heel" promo better today. If he was bigger he could have been WWE 's best heel in an alternate universe.

I like Dom Cruz, his old school heel persona is very Nick Bockwinkle-esque. Y2J has that down pat now though. Not surprised Ronda lost, going up against Nunes was way too soon. Smart money would have been Rousey v Holm II first, Ronda Redemption if you will. Then you either have one more fight or go straight to Amanda Nunes. If Miesha was still fighting I'd have gone with her after Holly, then Nunes. So you have some more fight experience. Two losses on the bounce will be hard to come back from. But going to WWE seems a big step backwards. Cool for us wrestling fans but the mainstream will spin it that she's playing tough in a cartoon world which will be detrimental when and if she fights again. Plus I see a Nia & Charlotte beat down on Ronda with Steph heavily involved so that won't be smart business either.

The rumor is Dana tried to make the fight and Holly and Ronda both did not want it. Holly would beat Ronda again, but she is rumored to be mentally ruined after her last fight and is going to go to FW to fight nobodies until Cyborg's suspension ends, take that big payday, then retire after getting KTFOed by that beast.

Would have made more logical sense to have went with Holly/Ronda, but if they didn't want to go with it, there's not much Dana & Joe Silva could do I guess. Holly Holm going to featherweight is interesting. You've got a dominant straw weight champ in Joanna and Amanda Nunes is dominating the bantamweight division it makes sense to fight for a new title being made. But again like you say she won't get pass Cyborg. Say Ronda beat Amanda Nunes, they could have had a catchweight superfight with Cyborg, which I think if in alternative universe Ronda Rousey was still the champ and undefeated would have been massive for the UFC. But it seems more a fantasy matchup like Anderson Silva v GSP.

Cyborg/Rousey would have done close to 2 million buys. But I don't blame her for not taking the fight at 140 just like I don't blame GSP for not going up to 185. Both would be blown out by the bigger fighter they can't take down.

Not sure if this is better or worse than the Lion King meme she got after the Holm fight. I just know I'd hide under a rock if the internet did it to me.

Re: MMA Thread (UFC/Bellator et al) UFC 207 Rowdy Ronda Returns
-- The UFC has made a new broadcasting hire in the wake of Mike Goldberg exiting the promotion that he called home for the past 20 years.
MMAWeekly.com sources on Tuesday confirmed that the UFC had hired former ESPN and WWE broadcaster Todd Grisham, following ESPN’s Brett Okamoto tweeting about the move. UFC officials, however, had no comment when asked to confirm the hire.
Details about the length of Grisham’s deal and his role in the broadcast booth were scarce. It doesn’t appear that he will be a direct replacement for Goldberg, but more likely an analyst and play-by-play commentator on Fight Night events. That leaves the path open to speculation as to who will be sitting in Goldberg’s former spot when UFC 208: Holm vs. de Randamie lands in Brooklyn on Feb. 11.
Grisham worked at ESPN in varying capacities since 2011. Prior to that, he worked for WWE for seven years. He is expected to make his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night Phoenix on Sunday, Jan. 15.

It's funny how he calls her 80 when he looks older than she does.

That's some world class Twitter trolling, but UFC is praying he doesn't win.

She got sucker punched like crazy. It was bullshit that 2 points weren't deducted. But MMA does that less than boxing.
And here's Bisping and Romero yelling at each other. Bisping would be such a huge star in WWE since he's a better promo than everyone but Heyman.
