What is a good cheap Sega Genesis flashcart?

There seems to be several different kinds of versions. I just want one I can load up with roms and play on my Genesis. It'd be cool to have the one that can play Sega CD games without an actual Sega CD but those are way more expensive than they are worth imo.

If you have a Sega CD you can just burn the discs. There's no copy protection.

Are those both the same? They look like it, just wondered why one is $31 and the other is $17. I don't have a 32x or Sega CD, there is an expensive flash cart that I'm pretty sure allows you to play Sega CD games without a physical Sega CD but those are like $250.

The Sega CD had a 12Mhz 68k processor in it, so that's why you can't just play ripped CDs on a normal flashcart.

Apparently it uses an FPGA to play the Sega CD games without the actual hardware add-on. It would be pretty neat to have that functionality but not worth $260 USD imo. It'd end up being a $260 Road Avenger player for me Back in the day when I had a Sega CD the only two games I really played was Road Avenger and Sewer Shark. The Sega CD version of Road Avenger is still the best version imo, but whenever I feel like playing some Sewer Shark I go with the 3DO version.

I agree on the price. The Mega CD is very cool tech that works well but personally, there are better (i.e. cheaper) ways to play Sega CD these days. I'd take the $260 and put it towards a full FPGA system. Taki's MiSTER Pi system costs less than the Mega CD and it plays many more systems.

A full FPGA system might be nice but personally I'm fine with emulating Sega CD and everything else on PC. The only reason I'm interested in a Genesis flashcart is because it is the only original childhood system I still own (well that and a PS1) If for only $20 or so I can get a flashcart and get some use out of it why not?
