Re: Card Collecting Thread
I mainly get sleeves and toploaders from Select.
https://selectaustralia.com.au/collections/accessories
With binders, I get the Collingwood ones from Select. Plus official Pokemon ones. I got this from Temu the other week, which will take cards in toploaders:
https://www.temu.com/goods.html?_bg_fs= ... 3080853956
It's huge, but nice.
With the ones I display, I got these racks from Temu:
https://www.temu.com/au/1-plastic-tradi ... 88730.html
The card section at Temu is worth checking out. There's a lot of cheap but good things for card collecting.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
Oh yeah, I forgot select existed to be honest.
That binder looks great, I might grab one of them for the cards I'm not planning on displaying. Those sick racks interest me, but I'm too clumsy and have too much shit for them to be viable for me. Maybe if I put the cards on display in rigid shells and then on a rack like that they wouldn't bend when I inevitably knocked them flying. I'll keep looking for like slimline ones of those, or into wall mounting options long term.
Problem with temu, and Ali, and even eBay is things take too long to arrive. I wanna start playing with things now!
So I'm gonna a different local store today and get just the absolute cheapest card protection they have and maybe something a bit more better to compare it to while online shopping arrives

Re: Card Collecting Thread
Yeah, there's a bit of a wait. Temu shipping is pretty good though, it usually only takes a week to a week and a half to get here.
The things I have on the racks are in one touches (AKA magnetic card holders), so they are protected if they get knocked over. And I have knocked them over.
This looks like something that would look good on a wall:
https://www.temu.com/au/10pcs-magnetic- ... 09180.html
Your cards would be 35PT size, so you will only need normal sized sleeves and holders. The thicker ones are for patch cards or big sports cards, some of them can be like bricks.

Hmm, might get a pack of them to put all the leader cards on the wall.

Oh, those are just holders. I thought it was that thing that's on the wall in what was the first picture for me originally, but is now the 5th picture.
It looks like these ones come with stands.

OK, here are some wall mounted displays.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I was in a local shop today and got a few cheap things to try and get started.. those frames look expensive and I'm cheap so I may take some frames I already own and alter them for displaying cards.
Thanks to Jake, or Jack, or Jock or Jeck who was a customer behind me buying 4 million dollars in magic the gathering stuff, his heaviest New Zealand accent I've ever heard in my life made knowing his name impossible, but he seemed to know what he was talking about.
He suggested some cheap perfect fit inner sleeves for cards I actually want to play with and since I do intend to play with the cards, these will keep them much better than any sort of top/side loader.
And once the cards are in the inner sleeves, you can basically do whatever storage/mounting/display/play you want anyway without damaging the edges.
So I got this lot for cheap: I must say Ultrapro has gone down hill. I have some of these 9 card binder sleeves from the 90's (when I found the Jurassic Park cards) and the quality was HEAPS better on the old ones! so these at $6.98 for 10 feel like a rip off. these these things feel cheap, and look cheap and are cheap whereas the 90s ones I have are like a UV PROOF, BOMB PROOF sealing vinyl. I'll use these to pin things to my cork board till I get something better.
The palms off gaming soft card sleeves are pretty good for the grand total of $1.80 they cost, and I will be using them on 2 complete sets of my playing sets.
But the best thing is the Dragon Shield smoke perfect fit sealable inner card Sleeves. This brand had 845,640 options in store and if it hadn't been for the friendly New Zealander, I wouldn't have have had a clue where to start.
I wanted clear ones, but smoked back version was cheaper. It was $13 for the fully clear ones, $8 for the ones I got. $13 is more than I paid for a full deck of cards, and $10 was my absolute limit as a start on any product.
I might fit literally ALL of my cards in these sleeves, especially if I can find clear ones on sale.. what a fantastic product.
I can see how they might not benefit trading card collectors unless shipping or moving them around a lot, but for using they actual cards, these will be amazing, and the quality feels super good for something cheap.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
Think I've found my next cards already:
https://battlespirits-saga.com/products/booster/cb01/
I don't know what Battle Spirits Saga is, but they have an Evangelion series of cards.
Since Evangelion is turning 30 later this year, and I'm quite a fan, I'll be picking up some of these.

Panini are doing MLW cards. Just Panini Instant for now, but there will proper hobby and retail boxes released later in the year.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
Dunno if Hawq is watching, But I did end up getting a booster of the Evangelion cards to see if I'm getting into them.
I have no intention of playing Battle Spirits Saga.. but I think I want ALL of these cards!
I'm more inclined to spend a wad of cash on a whole booster box or 2 and a couple of starter sets of these than I am trying to get into Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering, These cards are very reasonably priced compared to a lot of other stuff.
Final Fantasy cards ARE tempting, but there's gonna be so much shit when all I really want is a complete set of 7,8,9 and MAYBE 10. (Same problem with the Final Fantasy trading cards.. I don't give a flying fuck about 1-6 or 11-485. SEVEN TO TEN just give me god damn SEVEN TO TEN, like all any sane person wants!)

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I forgot how to tag... Is it @Hawq but I'm sure he'll sense the Evangelion presence and take an interest.
I also spotted formula 1 cards when I was shopping around , but they were 2024 so I'll wait for any potential 2025 ones to come out, and get them IF Oscar Piastri (The Aussie who's currently favourite to win) wins the world championship.

True. I'll look into the tagging later and will see if I can get it working again.
There is kind of a workaround. Quote a Hawq post from another thread and add to it here.

I actually opened this packet like a bag of chips and pinched the top open, but in future packets I will sever the AT field just for you!

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I went to one sports card shop while in Japan, hoping to see some wrestling cards. There were some in there, but it was mainly baseball. There was one card that I almost bought from there though that wasn't a sports card: Dee Snyder.
It was only $40 but the auto was kind of shitty, so I didn't bother.
I did just but these from ebay, though.

In Japan, I did buy a lot of cheap Pokemon packs and some bulk mystery packs.
