Re: Nintendo General Thread (Switch 2 released)
Still not tempted at full price.
But only because I know how many average games at best IGN have called masterpieces. (And indeed quite a few gaming sites not mentioning any names, COUGHKotaku, press start, gamespot, metacriticCOUGH.)
If it wasn't donkey kong, if it was an identical game with an unknown animal and if it wasn't Nintendo, if it was an identical game but made by Ubisoft, would any of them enjoy it?
That's my biggest concern and question.
And I don't want to hang out with the only people I know with switch 2's to find out.
Can't be assed getting it from uncle torrence and stuffing around with settings to try either. But I'll give it a shot one day, but keep expectations in check. (It's bound to be good, but masterpiece is a strong statement that only 3 Donkey kong games have been worthy of so far.)

Re: Nintendo General Thread (Switch 2 released)
If it wasn't Donkey Kong or created by Nintendo, I think we would be baffled: How did someone other than Nintendo, Sony or Rare make a functioning 3D platformer? Ubisoft can't stop themselves from stuffing loads of jank or microtransactions into a new game to ever release a good straightforward game (maybe Mario vs. Rabbids excluded).
I let Yahtzee determine whether new games are good. I'll believe the hype if he likes it, and to a much lesser extent, Dunkey. I'm a confused shut-in these days who refuses to participate with new gaming trends, gripping tight to my emulators and indie titles. Is it still patient gaming if I wait 20 years to play a game? I think there are a bunch of mainline Mario titles I never played except for Mario Odyssey.

Re: Nintendo General Thread (Switch 2 released)
If I didn’t buy Death Stranding 2, I would probably get it tomorrow. I have played about 2 hours of my Switch 2 after my massive disappointment with the new Mario Kart, and while I’d like to actually play this new console, my 30 minutes of gaming a day means my next 3 months will probably be consumed with DS2.
