Absolutely devastating. AEW and WWE had better show a lot of love because arguably neither promotion, nor a lot of their stars, would be here without Sabu to copy, learn from, and emulate.

On a personal note: I helped put on two shows that he worked at when I lived down in Tennessee, and one here in Ohio. Lived his gimmicks, protected the hell out of his character, but if you were in the locker room and respectful he was nothing but kind and generous. We all went out to eat at this 24 hour cafe after a show and he and I want to say ((don't quote me)) Blue Meanie joined us. Dude picked up the tab for everyone. Didn't say he was going to do it, didn't stick around for thanks, just headed up to the register after the dessert, paid, and left before we knew what was going on. He and I compared knee pain and rehabbing once. Gonna miss the fuck out of him.

Very sad but not unexpected. He seemed pretty miserable after his wife died and was talking about drugs a lot.

Very sad to hear about Sabu, such an innovator, he changed the whole world of wrestling with his hardcore high flying style. Definitely one of a kind, Sabu could & should have been a massive star in either the WWF or WCW, yet it many ways he was the perfect embodiment of the spirit of ECW. RIP Sabu
