Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time remasters announced alongside third Ecco game

Countdown website ends on April 25, 2026.

Remastered versions of the Genesis games Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time are in the works from series creator Ed Annunziata, he announced in an Xbox Wire interview. Once those are complete, Annunziata will begin work on a new, third game in the series.

"Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and [Ecco: The] Tides of Time games," Annunziata said. "Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities. Stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com."

The website features a countdown ending on April 25, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.

I don’t know if they can modernize it enough for me to enjoy playing Ecco. That game was, sadly, pretty garbage.
