Re: The Car & Bike Thread
Bogans are all licking their lips at a big pay day!!
Their clapped out, rust bucket VL’s VN’s VS’S VT’s and VE’s went from basically worthless to future classic in the space of a week!
Now that $200 VS that was a FIXER UPPER is now a $5,000 ‘future classic, appreciating asset, they don’t make em like this anymore, NEVER SEE Anything like it again in the whole world ever!’
The problem Holden had was it had ONE model that propped the WHOLE company up, when that model failed because it was shit, they alienated the last people buying them by going from locally made, RWD with a BIG FUCKOFF V8 to German made FWD sensible piddly 4 cylinder.
To put it in American terms, imagine Ford took the F-150, stopped making it in America, and imported a Honda Jazz and called it a Ford F-150
THAT is what Holden did, and that is why they failed.
It’s a real shame too, because just as Australian cars were catching up to Japanese cars of the late 80’s in features and handling, they’re all gone...
(Big fuckoff V8s are great fun though)

More and more rare rust bucket cars will be worth tonnes soon.
Computer issues plague modern cars after 10-20 years so people want an old shitbox they can keep using.

Re: The Car & Bike Thread
So for the past few years I've been undecided about my next car.
I wanted something out there like a Subaru Vortex or a Citroen 2CV or a Toyota Sera or just something people would see and even if they knew what the fuck it was, they wouldn't know why the fuck someone would drive it.
Then I wanted a big fuckoff V8. comfort and expense and braking and handling would have no impact. Just POWER!!!
But I think I've finally found my perfect car!
Recently my Brother has been watching stuff narrated by Tony Robinson (who I was first familiar with from Fat Tulips garden and then Blackadder)
Tony Robinson is a good comedian, a great actor, a fantastic presenter and a phenomenal story teller.
But the thing that makes me happiest of all his work is a series of car ads he narrated for Honda right around when I got my licence in 2005.
So I'm gonna get a yellow Honda Jazz and put a "She's not as plastic as you" bumper sticker on it.
And maybe one day I can get him to sign the dash.
I hear she's even nice on the inside!

Re: The Car & Bike Thread
I've been given a 2005 Honda Civic Sedan.
It needs a little work. (Deep clean all around, a new inside mirror, machined brake rotors and new pads and tyres and bushes) but the tiny little 1.7 litre engine is amazingly nippy even if the car has no character to drive at all.
Also been offered a 2002 Subaru Impreza that needs a little more work, but I'll get the civic on the road again first.

♫My car broke down, I called triple A.
♫They left the car and towed me away!
I had the doors open cleaning it on Sunday and now it's stuck.

Re: The Car & Bike Thread
I've finally bought another bike

There's this one and an all black one but this was cheaper and I could get it sooner, should have it in a week or so
There are restrictions on it as it is technically learner approved but that can be changed with an allan key and a screw driver

I saw an RX7 tonight, and it's reminded me that I've missed pop up headlights in the 20 odd years since the last cars that had them stopped production.
I've owned a car with pop up headlights, and when they work, they are the coolest feature a car can have.
The only thing in the entire world better than a car with circle lights, is a car with pop ups.

Re: The Car & Bike Thread
I saw an article saying those Dodge Ram 1500's are bigger than a Panzer 1 tank.
I knew you could get massive ones. I once saw one that couldn't fit in a garage (height or width) and was taking up so much room it nearly poked out of the drive onto the footpath, it was quite comical.
But surely they can't be as big as an actual fucking light tank right?
Here's the dimensions for the tank.
Length: 4.02 metres.
Width: 2.06 metres.
Height: 1.72 metres.
And the starting from dimensions for the Ram 1500:
Length: 5.83 metres.
Width: 2.23 metres.
Height: 1.97 metres.
STARTING FROM! they get bigger.
They should only be able to be used on a truck or tank licence.
Now I know why people call them tanks.
