Re: Retro Gaming Thread
I've been playing Tony Hawk's Pro skater 2...
It's more fun than I remember, as it turns out.
It's not the game I didn't really like, it's just the PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, Mac OS, iphone, remake and Nintendo 64 versions I didn't like.
The Dreamcast version is great. It's still not as good as the first game which is great on any platform, but I'm having a great time playing it even if I suck and entirely ignore manuals and buying more tricks.

The MemCard Pro 2 has become an interesting all in one solution where not only can you store an almost unlimited amount of virtual memory cards, but thanks to Multi-Purpose Memory Card Emulation (MMCE) protocol its now possible to run PS2 games directly from the same memory card. How well does it work in practice? In today's episode we look at this exciting new functionality.

I'm guessing running games off a memory card would be a lot slower than a hard drive, or a network, but maybe slightly faster than the optical drive and the USB ports.
I've been running most of my PS2 games off the hard drive, and I must say I can't personally run games off anything slower anymore. The improved load times are just too nice.
The only exception to this is linked Time Crisis 2 and 3 which I still use the discs because I don't have 2 hard drive adaptors to make the games sync with each other with no loading times.
