Re: Nintendo General Thread (Switch 2 announced)
With all the quick shots and nothing of that launch trailer, does it have analogue triggers?
The biggest setback for the joycons, games and even the pro controller was that it didn't have proper triggers. In the quick cuts and stupid angles they didn't look analogue, but that doesn't mean they aren't.
I'm gonna need it to have them if I'm to buy one closer to launch than discontinuation.
Nintendo delivered the perfect triggers in 2001 (mid 2002 for us), and the only company to even come close to matching them was Sony in 2020.
Sony have proven the concept that they can go from the second worst shoulder buttons ever made (and the worst ever analogue ones) on the PS4's Dual shock 4 to the second best ever made (after the GameCube) for the PS5 dualsense and edge, So I hope Nintendo can follow their example and come up with a device that has proper controls and is not just going to be a SWITCH XL.

I'm holding off an opinion until the full hardware specs too. It looks nice!

Re: Nintendo General Thread (Switch 2 announced)
I watched it a few minutes after it released, and honestly the most surprising thing I saw in the video was the Mario Kart 9 teaser. I couldn’t recognize the track, and after 2 more viewings, I realized some of the character models were different too (especially Donkey Kong).
The other surprising thing was the name. I’m shocked Nintendo went with Switch 2 instead of some funky new name. It’s…too normal for them. A good decision, mind you. But boring.
I really hope they give us a better menu screen, I miss the days of the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS with their interactive and somewhat customizable menus.

I think they learnt their lesson after the WiiU. Because outside of us gaming nerds, no one knew what the hell it was supposed to be.melancholy wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:28 pm I watched it a few minutes after it released, and honestly the most surprising thing I saw in the video was the Mario Kart 9 teaser. Switch 2 makes sense from a consumer point of view. If they'd called it the Swiitch or New switch or something else it would have led to more confused parents.
I honestly don't know how to deal with a potential new Mario kart game... It's been 8 for a million years at this point.
