Re: TV Shows: Renewed, Axed, Picked Up + News
According to the Sun, The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin has been scrapped entirely partway through filming series 2 because Noel Fielding is missing.
I hope the sun is wrong, I hope the show will be back, and I hope Noel is ok.
I would be genuinely disheartened to learn there won't be anymore. almost as sad as when the boondocks revival got scrapped.
Oh, SAVE IT FOR THE COURT!!!
..this IS the court...

What's been filmed already might get turned into a special.
Also Fielding isn't missing anymore, he's in France. He has some health issue. Now, it's been reported that Apple TV+ bosses are considering an hour-long special to salvage footage that's already been filmed, with a possible air date of Halloween.
A source told The Sun: 'It's now considered to be something of a salvage operation, although its not clear whether they have enough to do anything with.
'But the creators sank millions into making the show and it was around 70 to 80 per cent filmed by the time the axe fell.
'So it would now be galling to see what they have go entirely to waste. It’s not clear whether any of the sections they’d filmed included the guest stars, who are said to have included Jason Isaacs, Dawn French and Miranda Richardson.'

Dick Turpin looks great but I haven't watched it yet. It looks as aggressively British as Sharpe's Rifles, which I tried to watch while stoned and couldn't stay into it.

To understand British television you have to get drunk on warm beer.pixel wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 3:25 am Dick Turpin looks great but I haven't watched it yet. It looks as aggressively British as Sharpe's Rifles, which I tried to watch while stoned and couldn't stay into it.

There's a difference between British comedy and British drama.
I usually can't stand British drama... It's all shit like heather and Helen get into a heated argument about the correct biscuits to serve with which tea or how Henry wants to tax Harold's land and uses a loophole in a 19 episode courtroom arc to poison the local well and a scuffle NEARLY happened... Even highly regarded stuff like Death in Paradise is entirely lost on me (I did like Ludwig though, but that might just have been because it has the funniest man in Britain; David Mitchell, in it)
It's not Red Dwarf or Black books, or I.T crowd funny, but it's not exclusively British.
It's easier to recommend than pretty much any Australian comedy though, it seems our stuff is all just lost on any country further than New Zealand.
I quite liked the show when I first watched it, and when I watched it again with a friend I fell in love.

I will watch British dramas on Sunday nights on PBS if nothing else is on. I like Death In Paradise and Luther.

Assignment understood, I'll give Dick Turpin a chance ... after this series of Great Pottery Throw down.
