:olol: It got me itching too. I still have my Xbox with CoinOPS installed, I haven't turned it on in 10 years. That HDMI adapter looks great too: https://electron-shepherd.com/products/electronxout

It's a very sad day today as after today the Xbox 360 Marketplace will be closed forever. In this episode I reminisce and talk about what made the Xbox 360 such a special machine. Goodbye Xbox 360.

Halo 3 was about to release so I took some tuition money and bought my friend's system back in 2007. Symphony of the Night was the first game I bought after I got my account created. Xbox Live Arcade was a big deal for me. It was the first time I started buying more indie games than AAA shooters like Call of Duty. The 360 was the last system where I tried to keep up with the Black Ops and Halos of the world, seems like I got out at the right time because loot boxes became all the rage after the Xbone came out.

The 360 was a great system.

It would have been nice to have an updated 360, the same cpu/gpu just fast enough to run everything at 1080p/60fps + extra RAM. 360 Pro.

I would agree, it'd be a nice system to have some more hardware mods. Imagine a kitted-out 360 that could run everything from the original Xbox too.

I just watched MVG's video and it made me realize that the 360 was the last generation with (near) mandatory physical media. Moving from physical to digital was a big jump for the industry. That's probably the biggest factor that makes current generation gaming feel so foreign to old timers.

It also feels like that the system evolved so much from 2006 to 2012. From the blades dashboard to goofy Kinect Miis and then the awful tile interface.

The 360 was probably last favourite console. I've bought every Nintendo/Sony/XB platform since but nothing will match the 360 for me. After the 360 is when I really started moving back into PC gaming as my primary platform of choice.

RIP 360

For many reasons the 360 rocked. When it wasn't dead from RROD.
but for all the reasons I loved my 360's, which there are too many to write up, the biggest reason: so many good fucking games.

And not just good AAA, but good indie games, good marketplace games, good physical games.

It's like the industry got together and concluded, let's make this one last era kick ass, and let's make the 360 the platform we're going to kick ass on.
Microsoft used updates for good instead of evil, xbox live gold was actually worth paying for because they were so far ahead of everyone else in the industry with online connectivity it was insane, the system worked when you turned it on and didn't need a fucking update literally every single time, and even though they tried to push the Kinect bullshit, you could simply ignore it and play the best versions of more games than any other platform combined.
Even EA, Activision and Ubisoft pulled out some damn good games in the 360 era and that hadn't been seen for a long time before... or ever since.

I won't miss my 360's though. I still have them, and even though I'll never be able to go online and play Burnout Paradise with Skynet again, and even though I'll never be able to buy all the games I missed out on, I'll still be able to gather round and have trials and castle crashers nights any time I want! And maybe one day I'll finish dead rising.

I won't say it will NEVER get good again, but the 360 and the Dreamcast are likely to never be topped as the best systems for the rest of humanities existence.

Now watch. Microsoft will make the series not suck ass in all the ways it does, bring back blades, drop the price to $199 and GTA 6 and Judas will launch on the same day and work without day one updates.
Forza will have a game with every track and car ever made and no loading times or updates or single car DLC and the Stampers will go back to rare and make us another platform game...
If ALL that happened, then the modern day console will have a chance to be as good as the DC and 360 were...

Another Xbox game is being released on Playstation. It could be Starfield. The announcement will probably be at Gamescom in a couple of weeks.

Xbox Reportedly Working On Licensing Old Activision Marvel Games

Looking To Restore Classic Gems, Including Deadpool!
  • Xbox is working with Marvel to relicense Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
  • It seems that the company wants to capitalize on the movie's success by relisting and selling these titles.
  • These two games could open the floodgates, leading to license restorations for even more of Activision's Marvel games.
After the immense success of Deadpool and Wolverine, everyone has their attention on the IP. While a solid Deadpool game already exists, it can't be bought in stores or digitally anymore.

However, Xbox reportedly wants to capitalize on this success by relicensing the Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance ports.

Why it matters: Both Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were published by Activision, which is now a part of Microsoft. However, that was before the acquisition, and Marvel is the one that holds the rights for those games and characters.

Speaking during the Xbox Era Podcast, Nick Baker stated that he heard Microsoft is working on relicensing the games. While they are quite old, Deadpool was released for the Xbox One and can be played on the current generation.

However, since Activision lost the rights several years ago, none of its Marvel games are currently available for purchase. Xbox seems to be attempting to deal with this problem.

It is also important to note that this may be the beginning of something bigger. Similar rumors in the past have suggested that Xbox is interested in bringing back Activision's older titles that are stuck in licensing limbo.

Perhaps these two games could lead to license restorations for the likes of X-Men Origins Wolverine and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, both of which are considered great superhero titles.

We even saw the prices of the Deadpool game surge to over $140 because of the licensing problem. The movie, of course, has gone on to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, making over $1 billion.

Still, things may not be as simple as they seem. Insomniac is currently developing Marvel's Wolverine, which could make the licensing a bit complicated. It may be tricky to strike a deal since Marvel is currently working with Sony.

Despite potential hurdles, however, the idea is certainly interesting. Activision's older games certainly deserve more attention, and we would love to see them be relisted on modern digital stores.
