The guys decide to go to estate sales to find retro games but actually find more vintage toys than games. Billy comes across something he has been looking for for years, and once again Jay and Chris cause a scene at an antique mall.

E3 2001 raw tape focusing mainly on the games on display, but some other stuff too. This was when the Gamecube and Xbox were getting ready to launch, but weren't out yet. From an original Video8 camera tape covering the show in March of 2001. This was shot by a friend who worked for an industry news website. If anyone wants to make accurate timestamps, please do so and I will officially add them.

I do miss those days. :) It's hard to top gaming from your teenage/college days. I'll have to watch it this weekend for some nostalgia.

Now we move on to E3 2002. Raw tape focusing mainly on the games on display. The PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube were the players here. From an original Video8 (8mm) camera tape covering the show in March of 2002. This was shot by a friend of mine who contributed Gamerweb/Kikizo for many years.

Long hard right, maybe:

Nearly 5 hours on Sega Rally.
They talk a lot of shit, but there's some good insights among the endless droning of crap.

5 hours? Nice?

What was that slowed down version of Human League's Fascination bassline at the start?

Here it is:

And where it's from:

Hey, you're right. I didn't even notice that, but it makes sense it's there:

Just looking for my next direction,
I need some coins to play!
Hey hey hey heyyyy!!!

And so the Celica turned
Until the fun went down.

And many fantasies were learned
When we played!

The Original Xbox launched in 2001 and it brought a few innovations never seen before to the video game console industry. The first would be a built-in hard drive that was not an optional add-on, rather it was a core component of the Xbox hardware. But did the hard drive provide any benefit other than large storage capacity for save games and custom soundtracks? In today's episode we take a closer look at the Xbox hard drive feature and how developers took advantage of it in different ways. Was it really necessary in the end? You decide and let me know in the comments.

This episode will be a journey through the technical developments and changes within the industry during the 80s. After the wild west spirit of the 70s, the video game industry was undergoing major steps towards a state of maturity during the 80s. Setting new important steps that would form the foundation of game development in the following decades. The 80s would mark the birth of 3rd party developers, the rise of home computers and a true boom in new lasting franchises.

Hmm. Looking at that picture without watching the video does indeed pose a good question, Good games stuck in the arcade? And helps answer it with Virtua Cop 3. Virtua Cop 3, along with
Time Crisis 5 and House of the Dead Scarlet dawn

Nothing has the death of the arcade been harsher on than the light gun game, so they're (rail shooters that is) probably all that's good stuck in the arcade that I can think of off the top of my head..
Oh, also Emergency call ambulance. And Gale Racer doesn't REALLY count as a port of Rad Mobile! Never will!
