I'm interested in upgrading my 28.8 kilobaud internet connection to a 1.5 megabit fiber optic T1 line

There's a potential Donkey Kong Null Screen coming up if anyone wants to watch

Will you be able to provide an IP router that's compatible with my token ring ethernet LAN configuration?

Fun fact: the 1.5 megabit fiber optic T1 line is about 50 times faster than the 28.8 kilobaud modem. Today, my 500 megabit coaxial cable internet connection is over 300 times faster than the T1

Most ice cream vans can travel at speeds we can only dream of!

In unrelated to the episode or quote news I'm on a wired connection again for the first time in about 7 years.

I saw the NBN trucks down the street a little while back, and they were there for 2 days so I thought they must have been fixing the pit that always floods that's kept wired internet here at speeds making 28.8kbs look like lighting.
So I went and chatted to one for a minute and they confirmed they were indeed taking out the fishing line and putting all new equipment and lines in.

Now I'm getting 250mbps via Fiber Coaxial (I'm too tight to pay for gigabit) and coming from the 25-50mbps roughly I've been getting with 4G for years has been quite nice.
Streaming random stuff in 4K rather than having to download things in 4K is quite convenient, and saving me just a shitload of storage space.

It is crazy how slow my internet was until 2022. Up until 2007 I was still using dial-up which connected at either 26.4 or 28.8kbps. Then in 2007 we finally could get high speed internet of 1.5mb. After a few years (maybe 2012) all 1.5mb customers were upgrade to 3mb for free. Then finally FINALLY in 2022 I joined the rest of the world with 100mb fiber optic. The options were 100,500 and 1,000mb. But 100 is plenty.

Yeah, after being on slow shit for so long, you can sort of see how the best options for speed are a bit of a waste. I settled for middle of the road 250, if it was just me alone I probably would have gone for 100 myself.

1.5mbps is what my 4G/5G got capped to once I used my pittance of mobile data each month (25GB).
