Just a random post about the progress of ScummVM

I remember checking it out way back in the day when it was fairly new. At that time I think mostly the simple older games like Monkey Island 1&2 were listed as good or excellent. I recall looking at Curse of Monkey Island and it was rated the lowest it could be with is "broken" I think. I remember thinking lol yeah Curse of Monkey Island will probably never be playable. Now not only is Curse of Monkey Island rated as 100 percent playable with no issues but even Grim Fandango is playable despite it not even using the Scumm engine!

Even Escape From Monkey Island is now playable! Even though it is rated as bugged back when it came out I'd have never thought that was possible.

Surprisingly the Dreamcast version is still being updated and the latest 2.7.1 release is available for Dreamcast. I wonder if Grim Fandango runs on the DC version? Probably not I'd guess. To my surprise The Curse of Monkey Island runs on the Dreamcast version. If that had been released back in the DCEmulation days I would have been blown away. I would have probably played through the whole thing on Dreamcast just because.

Samsung TV (2009 series), Kolibri OS (never even heard of it), IRIX which is apparently the OS that ran on Silicon Graphics workstations, OS/2,BeOS NINTENDO SIXTY FOURRRR!!!! and many more. There are even some that aren't even listed on the site. I remember seeing a version for TomTom GPS. A quick youtube search shows that it does exist.


Just wild how many different versions exist when many of them probably have zero users. For example how many people are there that first actually own an SGI system and it also interested in playing Monkey Island on it.
