That's disgusting. Good thing there are no Taco Bell locations in my state

I mean it KIND OF makes sense.
Mexican food, while tasting good usually looks like cat vomit, and often the more disgusting it looks, the better it is. This is just gonna make it taste how it looks.
So it's kind of the perfect taco. Finally they can taste as disgusting as they look.

Fuck, I'd definitely eat that but that's too much Vegemite. I think a touch of it cooked in the sauce would be awesome on the umami scale.
I'm more a Marmite fan though, I've used that in gravy before. It's making me hungry, thinking of munching on a savory yeast-laden taco. You've got to have the cheese and good lettuce to counteract the bitterness. And maybe some sour creme on there too
If I was single and stoned, I'd make this for dinner tonight.

I’ve never even had Vegemite, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard of it outside of this forum.

It's an ingredient that has a ridiculously limited amount of applications (1 to be precise, on toast with butter and cheese) and you have to get the proportion of the Vegemite 100% spot on.
And the second you deviate from either of those things, you end up with a putrid pile of rancid vomit inducing garbage not fit to exist in the world.
And every time they try something with Vegemite, any one who's ever had any with any single remaining taste bud or even the memory of the taste already knows that it's going to be a horrific disaster.
So you're lucky you've never been exposed to someone using Vegemite like peanut butter or Nutella and handing you a sandwich.

That's the thing: Some aussies treat Vegemite like a sadistic test to prove who is most purely Australian. Kind of like Malört in Chicago or lutefisk in Minnesota.
I've only used Marmite while cooking, so I don't know how different it is from Vegemite. The former tastes great in gravy and sauces. I've got a bangers and mash recipe that calls for Marmite and it is tasty. But I like the yeastiness of it, which could be divisive. It sounds like Vegemite is more bitter, which doesn't sound appetizing.

I get a lot of crap from people because the best way to have Vegemite is on toast with butter that's nice and melted and a nice thick layer.pixel wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 12:47 amOrangeRibbon wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 10:19 pmSo not a taco?ian wrote: Thu Oct 12, 2023 2:48 pm"And I never tasted cantaloupe...
