Re: BG official Slot Car thread.
I just noticed in my first post you can see my shoes. (BTTF 2 Air mags) and now 4 years later I finally have a delorean.
I want more of those shoes, but I spent all my money on slot cars!

Re: BG official Slot Car thread.
We're on a mission from god!
I got a bunch of cars since my last post, my favourite was this (after I fixed it): They went to the effort of designing and making a beautiful, highly detailed and weathered model and then absolutely ruined it by fitting a chunk of poorly painted garbage from the ONE SCENE IN THE WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE WHERE THE CAR GOES FUCKING SLOW! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?
So I fixed it: Yep, some electrical tape on the back wheels... This made it comical to drive. I was having so much fun all over the place, and once I add 3 to 5 of the police cars coming this year and they're all sliding around like mental it will be hilarious. It was almost impossible to drive on my current track because of the banked corner. A gnats wing too slow and it slides down the track and gets stuck... A bee's dick too fast and you spin up the banking and come off the track. As funny to watch as the movie itself.
But at least it doesn't look like complete ass anymore, well it does, and I did a shit job, but it's SUPPOSED to look like shit!

Re: BG official Slot Car thread.
Probably more racing when I've fixed up all the cars I broke during birthday slots.
Possibly Easter slots, but might be after Easter. Even when I'm not racing the cars (because I don't have space for a permanent track) I'm usually doing something to do with them. Usually maintenance and getting more.

Re: BG official Slot Car thread.
I've been getting consistently let down by Scalextric for the past 3 years. Reduction of quality, multiple failures on brand new products, bait and switch tactics and raising of prices have all added to my increasing frustration and decreasing purchases, but I've just seen the new McRae 1995 world championship car and I'll buy it for $100.
I feel like we lost Colin McRae just yesterday.... It was 2007! That's an eternity ago! But only a year after Peter Brock died and 2 years after Richard Burns died.
I have to have the car though, even if Scalextric will fuck it up some how.
After Group B rally regulations ended and rally became more boring that Billy carts on a flat freeway, Colin McRaes batshit insane driving single handedly made the WRC fun again.
SURE, the Celicas and Cozzies looked like better cars while stationary (Mitsubishi didn't quite look as stunning until the EVO 5 a few years later) In motion, only one car was a titan of the era.
1995 would Cement 2 legends, Colin McRae and the Impreza WRX.
You never knew if he was going to win the race or flip several times trying and those seemed to be the only options.
You watched in sheer excitement when Colin McRae was driving... Each corner all the other cars would arrive on all 4 wheels on the track. You didn't know if McRae would be upside down, sideways, mid air, backwards or straight off the track and off a cliff.
And he kept that level of insanity up even when he got older and switched to Ford. He made it fun.
If it wasn't for Colin McRae I wouldn't have ever been into cars half as much as I ever was.
Yes you can limit cars to 40 and make them boring as fuck (and they've been trying in every racing event and on every road worldwide since the mid 80's) But as long as you have someone willing to push them past their absolute limit, you'll never hold the spirit of humanity down.
Scalextric are lucky I really like Japanese cars (Subaru the most of all the Japanese cars), Colin McRae and rally cars!
Rally nearly died when Group B ended... Colin McRae saved the entire sport. If you don't know what I'm on about: Group B was a set of regulations introduced in 1982 for competition vehicles in sportscar racing and rallying regulated by the FIA
The Group B regulations fostered some of the fastest, and most powerful rally cars ever built and is commonly referred to as the golden era of rallying. AND WITH GOOD REASON!
A series of major accidents, some of them fatal, were blamed on their outright speed and lack of crowd control at events. After the death of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver Sergio Cresto in the 1986 Tour de Corse the FIA disestablished the class, dropped its previous plans to replace it by Group S, and instead replaced it as the top-line formula by Group A.
The short-lived Group B era has acquired legendary status among rally fans and automobile enthusiasts in general.
Group S rules would have limited car engine power to 5hp and Group A limited the power to 2hp. Thus, after this WRC became ALMOST as boring as Formula 1...
With cars that could hardly move under their own weight killed rallying until Subaru and Mitsubishi could make fast cars with a pittance of power in the mid to late 90's.

Re: BG official Slot Car thread.
I got TWO Colin McRae cars.
One for weekdays and one for Sunday best! I'm happier with the weathered one which is a limited edition UK club exclusive, the weathering paint hides some plastic mould marks and decal stickers.. and Since I needed another car to race I got an Escort too.

I played with the No. 5 Ford on the right, surprised it’s still in one piece. Twice I left the track at full speed and slammed into the side board with a bang. Haha.
I also might have fucked up the new car ny accidentally putting it on the course facing the wrong way.
