Lenovo Legion Y740 (15.6" 144Hz, RTX 2070 MaxQ 8GB, i7-9750H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVME SSD)
I've kept up my streak of getting 3 year old second hand gaming laptops. This one is a fair bit better than the previous one though. A nice 15% discount thanks to Afterpay Day.

Re: Post here when you buy computer/tech stuff
Just purchased a Windows 10 laptop for $1200 down from $1700. Have Ian to thank for putting me on to it. The electromotive force is strong in this one. Thanks Buddy. lol
It is a Lenovo Thinkbook 14 G2 14 inch FHD I5 with 16GB RAM and 512GB Hard drive Windows 10 Pro Laptop.
Gonna do me well @ TAFE next year doing programming.

Enjoy!
I've just spent a lot less than that on a WD 4TB Blue at $125.
It's going in the computer that will be running the new Epson photo scanner I got mum for Christmas.

A 500 Gb SSD is rather decent, isn’t it? I thought that SSD’s were more like 100Gb.

My only two gripes are as follows:
1. No CD ROM;
2. The keyboard is not back lit.

Correction: the keyboard iIS back lit. It just lights when the computer turns on, not when I am typing in the dark.

Correction of correction:
The keyboard has manually operated backlighting at two levels of brightness.

I don't think any modern laptops have Optical drives anymore, even in 2017 finding one with an ODD was difficult. (Maybe one model out of 50) High end computing has no need for them anymore. Can always buy an external if you like discs as much as I do.
And also, I would not suggest or buy even a mid range laptop without a backlit keyboard. They're just too useful. Even on desktop I'd not suggest a keyboard without a backlight. (Even though a lot of my favourites have no lighting, my daily has since about 2006)

The backlight is essential for people like me who do not touch type. I don’t understand how people can type while looking at the screen. I look up at the screen perhaps every twenty seconds to see how many times I fucked up. Sometimes it takes me longer to fix what I typed than it did to type it in the first place.

I could touch type... A decade ago. Now I'm too old to remember exactly where - is without looking.
I've also forgotten just a shitload of keyboard shortcuts... I have a mouse and other things I want to remember instead.

The keyboard shortcut I remember is to unplug the little shit and walk off so I don’t fucking smash it through the monitor.

GTX 1080 8GB for $100 Australian dollarydoos off ebay.
It's now in my el cheapo old HP workstation which has a 10yo 8 core/16 thread Xeon CPU in it. It's running games very nicely at 1080p. Due to the GTX 1080 being fairly old too there's not much of a bottleneck, if any.
It's actually a dual CPU MB so I could put another CPU in it, but I don't think it would do much gaming wise.

That's a good price.
I'm getting another 1070 to go with the other 2. I overpaid a little at $130, but I wanted a specific gigabyte model.
I will be needing a new PSU and motherboard to do 3 way SLI, but as SLI is dead I wanted to try it one last time. Maybe I can game at 4K with 3 of them!
After this it's a steamdeck, the desktop is dead.

$130 is good for a 1070.
I just got lucky with the 1080, searched at the right time and the guy was getting rid of it because he upgraded to a 6700 so just wanted to move it on quickly.

I'd have been happier at $100. All the R9 290's and RX 580's scored for $100 over the years.
It's like 5 years old so should have been like $20-50 but when new cards cost $2000, I can understand people wanting their ewaste to be worth something.

Re: Post here when you buy computer/tech stuff
Hmm. Don't think any of the boards I could even borrow will do 4 way SLI. And I sure as hell don't have any cases that will fit 4 way SLI anymore...
BUT, if you have a Gigabyte OC with the twin fans I'll take it. I've never owned 4 of the exact same GPU before.
2? More than I can count. 3? only twice. But 4? Never! that seems like stupid overkill and now I kinda want to do it just because.

Overkill is fun Like using liquid Nitrogen cooling system so you can overclock the CPU to the peta hertz range.
What other overkill:
a) have you done;
b) are you planning?
