I've been listening to that one too.

Re: What music are you listening to / buying
I've just listened to 3 hours of pop music on the radio! Overall I had an enjoyable if forgettable experience.
But over the 3 hours, there were a few songs of complete shit.
One was like if the Tourism Board of New York City made a rap song. It was just a crappy rap song about New York being good.
Another was like if you mashed the song and lyrics structure of Wham's Last Christmas and Daft Punk's Instant Crush into one song.
And the last one was something about a rough guy, tough guy, buff guy, enough guy, turn out your cuffs guy...
Aside from those 3 standout shitty songs, Pop music isn't as bad as it was 5-15 years ago.

I had that one too. I liked them until they got too popular with Bad Touch and lost interest, although Jimmy Pop was always funny on Howard Stern.Dr. Zoidberg wrote: Mon Jul 12, 2021 4:54 pm Think I still have the CD somewhere.

Me and my brother have One Fierce Beer Coaster, Hooray for Boobies and Hefty Fine somewhere. Never got Use your fingers or Hard-Off on CD, but I have them.
Jimmy Pop is still hilarious, and I'd love a new album.

My fiance listens to top 40 radio and the only thing I hate are the nonstop ads and bad DJ banter

He looks like a mother in an 80s sitcom in that video.
I don't mind his music. It's a bit different than usual pop.

That's why I keep SiriusXM. No commercial breaks and classic Howard Stern.

I usually end up listening to Rock The Bells (the classic hip hop channel) or First Wave (the post-punk channel.)pixel wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 2:37 amSame hereCan't stand commercials either, and there are some music shows I like (Drew Carey's Friday Night Freakout, weekend chart countdowns on channels 8 and 9).

That's right Zoidberg, Harry Styles rocks! I've also investigated another one I liked, by looking up the lyrics "I should have stayed at home" apparently its Dua Lipa - Break My Heart.
I couldn't work out why I liked it. Then it hit me! the song goes something like:
I should have stayed at home
another one bites the dust
I should have stayed at home
another one bites the dust
I should have stayed at home
another one bites the dust.
Making a large part of your song sound like Queen is brilliant. Also, it's been great hearing Boney M make it big after 40 years?
I sill can't identify the Wham/Daft Punk song, but I heard it again. So I'm guessing it's quite high up on the charts. I suspect the next time I hear it I'll pay attention to the ACTUAL lyrics just so I know who I should be hating Rather than just singing:
LAST CHRISTMAS I GAVE YOU MY HEART, THE VERY NEXT DAY I DIDN'T WANT TO BE THE ONE TO FORGET!

Dua Lipa is pretty good.
I don't really listen to music on the radio anymore. I have 80 Spotify playlists instead.
Is this that Wham/Daft Punk song?

Oh god that's it! A decade ago I might have assumed the Jonas Brothers would be partially responsible for an atrocity like that!
Who in the fuck is marshmello? Is it like deadmaus' alter ego? Or is it a bastardised version of deadrat? Which was himself a sub par Bastardised version of Daft Punk with no musical talent whatsoever.
You would think sounding like Daft Punk and Wham I'd be all fucking over it, but no. It's in the 50 worst songs I've ever heard, and struggling through that video with the cut rate off brand deadmaus' pushes it to 20 worst. Taking a spot previously reserved for deadmaus or Rihanna..

I changed Radio Stations today. I went from a pop station to the most confused station in the world. (only locals will know the stations I am on about... Nova to Miix.. The last time I listened to miix it was still called 101.1 TT FM that's how long ago it was)
The music mix was playing was as batshit as my musical tastes. What kind of radio station goes from 112 - Dance with Me to Ed Sheeran - Bad habits.
Or even more confusing. a song about butter? to the black Eyed Peas - Where is the Love.
TOTALLY FUCKING BATSHIT song choices, I was absolutely loving it.
And I've found a new (or not so new) song I like. Eiffel 65 - Blue Da Ba Dee Nea - Some Say Is the best song I've heard since Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone David Guetta - Play Hard
Also Kiss Me More by Doja Cat is the most catchy hook I've heard in ages but listening on the radio I had no Idea what the song was about because many many lyrics were missing. So I assumed it was more obscene than a Rap song.
It was like too many Mutha Uckers by Flight of the Conchords: Gonna dice the mutha ucka like a mutha uckin' fruit salad Then... ... Granny Smith... ... ... an avocado... ... b-.. -a... .... mango... ... an pop an apple in his ass, yeah!
but hearing the real thing, it's actually a lot Tamer than I was led to believe.. OH NO! Niggas, PUSSY and FUCKING! Can't have that on the radio.
I should go for a Job there as a DJ.. I would play Kiss Me More by Doja Cat immediately followed by For Whom the Bell Tolls By Metallica

I think Miix is called Kiis now. I avoid it because I don't want to hear Kyle.
And Marshmello is a DJ. Popular with the kids. My nephew likes him.
I'm guessing they played the remix version.
The normal mix is alright too.

It came out a couple of years ago. Nova play it. Or did play it.ian wrote: Thu Jul 15, 2021 2:33 pm And I've found a new (or not so new) song I like. Eiffel 65 - Blue Da Ba Dee Nea - Some Say Is the best song I've heard since Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone David Guetta - Play Hard

Forgot to mention this the other day, although it does sound like a bit like Another One Bites The Dust, it's actually Need You Tonight by INXS. They even got songwriting credits for it.ian wrote: Tue Jul 13, 2021 4:50 am I've also investigated another one I liked, by looking up the lyrics "I should have stayed at home" apparently its Dua Lipa - Break My Heart.
