I remember 1993. If you watch the MTV Awards that year everybody looked shitty except for Janet Jackson. Soul Asylum were the worst, looking like they just got done begging for spare change before they went on stage.



I hope full on grunge style never comes back. But the chick squatting is pretty hot.

(Disclaimer: in 1993 I was wearing a lot of Starter Orioles stuff. Although I did have some flannel.)

Soul Asylum were the worst

I remember watching two fifth-grade girls perform an interpretive dance to Runaway Train at the all-school talent show. It was as awful and awesome as you can imagine.

When ranking Minneapolis-based acts, freaking Mint Condition was a better group than Soul Asylum.



The best thing that they ever did was release Misery so that Weird Al could do a great riff on it.

I hope full on grunge style never comes back. But the chick squatting is pretty hot.

Some of it is back with the floral prints and babydoll dresses, but full-tilt grunge is just an awful look. It's right up there with early 70s fashion on the garbage scale.

Ha Starter was badass, lots of people were rocking the Twins stuff because of the World Series. My mom took me shopping for a winter coat, and I landed on the 49ers for some reason? I'm sure my dad was pissed/sad when he saw me walk in the house with that on.



I was too young for OG grunge, but I can remember making fun of Kurt's mush mouth on Smells Like Teen Spirit to make my sister mad. I was obsessed with Stone Temple Pilots and Bush when I got a little older.
