As the only truly GREAT skateboarding game ever made (2 and 3 ruined it by having a visible balance meter, and by the time 4 came it was too worn into the ground and all the others are either too primitive or complex to be FUN as a fat ass gamer), that was a fantastic read.

I replayed it recently, it's held up a lot better than most Playstation/64 games in that I played it for a few hours and genuinely enjoyed myself.

Gonna play some Tony Hawk's Proving Ground on the PS3, which I've never played before. Most the reviews for it say it's good but we've been there and done it already, which in 2007 was very true. In 2019 it's still true, but it's been long enough that it should feel fresh again.

My favorite was 3 simply because the revert allowed for such insane combos that it was hard to go back to a time before it.

I'm biased towards Proving Ground because you can skate in Baltimore.

I played the shit out of 2 on the PSX and after playing every day for months and months I finally had enough of it. About a week later I went to EB and they had it for the Dreamcast, got it and then played it every day for months and months because it was so much better than the Playstation version that it felt like a new game.

The soundtrack is weak, though.

It is fairly shitty.

It's supposed to have 50 songs in it but I've heard Sex Pistols - Holidays in the Sun 5 times in the first hour.

Try out Proving Grounds then if you haven't already. It's reverts and manuals all over the place.

The original and the best...
I mean, SURE, 2 gets points (and a lot of points, at that) for having a Bad Religion song in the soundtrack with "You"

BUT, visible balance bar... If you can't tell by playing you're leaning too far, you shouldn't need to be told.

and 2 didn't have Dead Kennedys, Goldfinger, Primus, Suicidal Tendencies or The Vandals..

Gameplay wise, 2 is a bit better. BUT 1 had better maps, was original, and had a WAY better soundtrack. so 1 is great, 2 is fake..
