So there will be more devices released after the Xbox One and PS4?

It'd be a smart bet that, whatever it is, it'll be 100% Internet connected. And if we're talking about the PS6, that system could launch in 11 years — 2027. That's a lot of time in terms of video games.

11 years ago (2005), I was playing GBA Pokemon and Star Wars: Battlefront II. Shadow of the Colossus was released. The Internet was a basic concept only for the more advanced users on the PS2 and Xbox. Only a few games had LAN support, let alone full online support.

In 2016, even Nintendo has an online retail option. With many AAA titles, there's a heavy emphasis on having high-speed Internet. There aren't physical rental stores anymore, my 3DS can connect to WiFi and play online Smash Bros.

11 years from now (2027), God knows what will be the norm. But I figure, whatever the gaming community is like, I'm sure the kids will be lapping it up and having fun. By then, I'll be 41 years old.

Until the US can get better broadband networks in place, there will never be online-only consoles. We still have people on dial-up around here because broadband is simply not available.

I'd be worried that folks will be left with wonky satellite Internet if cable/fiber providers can't deliver in a few years. :puke:
