And it is a pretty good game, when it first came out I'm sure it was amazing. It still holds up very well but when it is brought up I don't really see people talk about the biggest problem with the game, and that is the other vehicles. A slight bump into another vehicle can send you bouncing out of control where you go from being far out in 1st to 4th place or lower. It is fine to have extra vehicles on the track besides the 3 main opponents but imo they put a little too many of the "drone" vehicles on the tracks. The majority of the time they aren't a problem and you can avoid them pretty easily. But when 2 appear on a tight corner and you bump into one then three cars behind you also keep slamming into you bouncing you all over the place it is pretty annoying. The drone vehicles are the worst part of the game by far imo.

To me, F-Zero is more a tech demo than a game. Same with Pilotwings. But they do a great job showing off Mode 7

I can understand that. Especially with Pilotwings, that being said Pilotwings is one of my favorite SNES games. It especially plays great in the emulator that does HD Mode 7. It is so easy to me nowadays though, usually when I play it I beat the whole game. There are two levels where I kind of cheat and that is the two helicopter levels. It isn't that they are especially hard. The problem is that it takes sooo long to get back after you get shot down.

The ideal strategy imo on those levels is not to fly straight through to the landing pad but to fly around the right side of the island until you are next to the landing pad, then you move onto the island to deal with the enemies. The problem is it takes something like 2:30-3:00 minutes to get to the landing pad. And it is VERY possible that you get shot down as soon as an enemy comes on screen. Even if you are skilled and careful you can still get shot down. Sometimes I can do it in one shot other times I get shot down before I can react. So I save state once I fly around the island. Otherwise I am just wasted 2:30 minutes flying over water everytime.

Even though I really like the game it does get kind of boring when you get to Expert Mode after the first helicopter level. It is just the same levels with a slight change. The worst part of the game imo is the hang glider sections. A couple of them are just "fly to certain altitude, then land" Might have been cool to instead have a Jet Plane or Seaplane mode.

Too bad they didn't make a Pilotwings 2. Pilotwings is pretty decent considering it was a launch title but had they released a sequel in 1993-1995 they could have done so much more with it. I know about Pilotwings 64 I had it back in the day too. While it was alright it just didn't really feel like Pilotwings. I remember when I first got it for N64. It was hard to find for some reason, I recall Wal-Mart being out of stock of it for awhile. So I was super hyped looking forward to it. All I had to go on was a screenshot or two from the back of the N64 box. I was like wow you can fly to Mount Rushmore and it has Wario's face on it! Cool! Then when I got it I still liked it but I was kind of dissapointed. It is funny my dad was watching my play it and said "It isn't what you expected it to be is it?" I have no idea how he knew lol. I didn't want to seem like I didn't like a game my parents bought me so I was like "What? No I like it!"
