I only came into the thread to say you already missed the 25th birthday, by almost a year.
A birthday is when the console comes out / Baby is born, not the first time the step uncles new wife meets it / America and Europe finally get it after 10 months.

9/9/99 was such a memorable marketing stunt. Feels like yesterday that I was watching the VMAs too.

Re: Happy 25th birthday Sega Dreamcast!
Reading Peter Moore's tweet I've worked out another reason the Dreamcast was so good, and is still loved today.
It had no EA games. So in addition to Sega practically bankrupting themselves to make good games, you had a distinct lack of total fucking shit games on the system.
If you play through every Dreamcast game, like 75% of it are actually good games.
If you look at all the platforms EA were making games on, the game library is at best 50% decent 50% garbage, and in the case of the PS2, LIKE 5-10% good games.
Sure, the Dreamcast missed out on a need for speed or beetle adventure racing, but conversely, you didn't have Harry Potter, and 19 sports games all exactly the same making the system shit.
