DARUDE Sandstorm (Central Station)

that's almost as batshit as a playlist as I myself would make... There's some really obscure tracks in there that were forgotten by about 2002. And countering the obscurity, some of the biggest electronic songs of all time. If I heard this playlist in like 2005, it wouldn't be so far out there.

The fact this playlist aired on March 21, 2022 on ABC is simply amazing. The lunatic that thought of this playlist is a hero! Draw people in with Daft Punk, and then hit them with Urban Myths Chitty chitty bang bang when they least expect it! and leave them with Sandstorm.

Come to think of it... If that chitty chitty bang bang video and dance came out today, it would be the number one thing on tiktok because it was so fucking stupid it's fun.
I still laugh when I see that video.

The kings of Australian grunge! I'm almost at my 19-year anniversary on last.fm. I was digging around for stuff I don't listen to anymore. Silverchair might be one of the most lopsided dropoffs in my library. I loved Abuse Me back in college, and then I stopped listening to it for 15 years. :whoa:

Freak Show was better than Frog Stomp. But I've seen interviews where they say Freak Show was their worst album for some reason.

Maybe it's like other bands where Freak Show's production didn't turn out as they expected? The lyrics were too personal? Divisive amongst fans? The kid on the album looks too much like Ham from the Sandlot?

The only Silverchair album I ever owned was Neon Ballroom. I never listened to any of their previous stuff. I know everyone had Frog Stomp in their CD collections back then, but beyond Tomorrow, I couldn’t tell you a single song on that album.

I almost bought a record yesterday.

I have a best of Dire Straits on vinyl, but not Brothers in arms. If it was $50-60 I would have grabbed it. But at $82 I figured it was a little too much even for one of the best albums of all time. So I put it back and kept browsing.

Then I saw the 10th anniversary edition of Random Access Memories and thought even though I have the original, it would be nice... Not for $130 though! That's more than seeing Daft Punk live fucking cost. But seeing that price almost made me think $82 was a good price.

Then my head kicked in. No album, regardless of medium or quality is worth more than $50.. and even $50 it has to be one of the best.

New. I was just in a shopping centre and having a look around. I haven't been to an actual record record store in years, with all my vinyl purchases since about 2007 being made online.
But seeing any decent one costs that much new, even used would be over $50.

Last time I was in a used record store was about 2009. In Collingwood and surrounding inner suburbs there used to be a few and one of the best ones also had a small section of Vintage games and electronics (think nothing past 1990) and I was in there all the time mostly buying old video games, because prices were really decent. I might have to go into another record store soon and see what a modern day price looks like.

I know the youngest of the boomers and oldest of the gen x wouldn't mind paying $82 for a Dire Straits record, but I'm sure as hell not!

I can see why cassettes and CD's and minidiscs and reel to reel tapes are starting to gain popularity with people who still want to own a physical item though, vinyl price are just mental.

$82 AUS is about $50 USD, so I'd agree that's right on the fringe. I miss the goodies that vinyl had about 10 years, like a bonus CD copy and/or FLAC files.
