Re: The Jim Cornette Thread
Corny is trending on Twitter again. I check to see why, assuming it's something to do with Tony Khan. But no, it's something different this time...

Re: The Jim Cornette Thread
Just a few thoughts on Corny after watching one of the timelines.
- He's a great wrestling historian, when he drops the "gimmick" & speaks normally he comes across so much better. When he's ranting & raving, I tune out although the Jim Herd stories were fun
- Meticulous record keeper too, still has formats, contracts, gates & attendances etc, I believe he used to have tons of tapes of other territories too, he was talking about seeing Cactus on Continental
- Helped bring the ratings up with Kevin Sullivan & Ric Flair etc on the committee in '89 so he can come up with good ideas until Herd nixed them
- Very knowledgeable, I think Jim would be an asset to any promotion, he'd have been a great fit for FTR.
If Jim Cornette wasn't so anti Elite, is he a guy that Tony should have thought of bringing in to help him out. Even just as an assistant booker or as a sounding board? I've heard the criticism before that Corny was too old school with Smoky Mountain & when he booked ROH. Although originally AEW was going to be a more sports orientated product with wins & losses, so that would've been a type of product that he could've been a really good advisor about.

Tony did talk to Cornette in 2018 about joining, but he told Tony he was never going to work with Omega.and the Bucks.

Re: The Jim Cornette Thread
Yea I think I remember that being mentioned, it's a shame as Tony does really need a sounding board, I believe Cody helped him before.
Eddie Graham was mentioned too, as Corny said Dusty learned from him & Kevin Sullivan among others (Paul E, Eddie Gilbert too?) even Vince Sr apparently got ideas for finishes from Eddie too.
Is there any detailed stuff out there about Eddie Graham & his booking philosophies, examples of storylines he put together etc. I don't think Championship Wrestling From Florida is on the network, although I believe WWE does own the CWF tape library.

I never saw it but Highspots did a documentary on it. It's not on Peacock because it was said there was no demand for it. The 70s stuff doesn't really get views.

JJ Dillion, Kevin Sullivan, and Gary Hart have talked in detail about how Eddie Graham booked. Look up their shoots on kayfabe commentaries.

Thanks, it's weird how wrestling nostalgia just begins in the 80s, whereas I'm sure the 70s, even the decade or so previously had good matches too. Highspots is uploading their old stuff so will keep a look out for doc.
