Re: Star Wars Movies, TV & Comics Thread

In Empire, the whole cast was wearing just respirators whilst inside a giant worm that's living inside an asteroid floating in space. Canonically, there's a music genre called "Jizz." The franchise is an embarrassment to science fiction, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch. I hope George Lucas laughs every time a nerd finds a new, stupid incongruity with the lore.
The novels weren't even safe from stupid ideas. Look at these stupid motherfuckers and tell me that Star Wars is a serious franchise and not a cynical cash cow for a mega corporation.

Imagine how embarrassed everyone would be if they found out that the Dathomir was in a ton of expanded universe novels and stuff from 20 years ago.
Star Wars has always been cringey, depending on your opinions

Since the 1997 special editions: this franchise is getting worse all the time!
George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, Disney:
I am altering the franchise, pray I don't alter it any further!
It's time for them to release Detours.
Or bring Andor back already for gods sake!
I haven't tried the accolade-litebrite yet, I'll try it eventually... But I suspect I'll have the same problem with Ahsoka where I don't know who the shit anyone is supposed to be, or why I'm supposed to care about what happens to them.

I'll give credit to Special Edition, I wouldn't have watched Star Wars as much without it. That VHS box set was my first home video copy of the trilogy. Those CG edits were pretty cool in a time when it felt like wizardry. Now they're dumb and spawned a whole subsect of nerds out there making cool de-specialized editions.
Phantom Menace was rough for me as a sixth grader. That was a big inflection point, it was huge letdown. I appreciate the semi-ironic nostalgic reexamination/appreciation of that movie, but I thought everything sucked except podracing.
Sitting in that theater in May 1999 was the beginning of the end for me. That's why it makes me numb to any issues with the new shows/movies.
