Re: XFL Thread
Considering he's spent around $300m+ on this new XFL and is only get $17.2m back in TV rights,so he's going to lose a ton of money here.
I can't see ad sales, ticket sales, merch etc filling the void so it will be profitable. Maybe once the infrastructure is in place and it is successful things might pick up.
Vince is getting a billion for SmackDown but that's over 5 years and if the ratings plummet then that TV deal might be in jeopardy. I get he wants to avenge his loss, but if that's the case, he'll bring back the WBF, the World restaurant, WWEs record label etc. His core business is wrestling and that's what he should focus all his energy on.
This XFL 2.0 vanity project is a big mistake considering there's no real money on the table in comparison to what he's already spent.

He's hoping it rates well in the first season so then he can get money in future seasons.

The estimate is they will lose a minimum of $115 million a year. Vince lost $75 million on the 2001 version (he split the cost with NBC. And with adjustment for inflation that's now $107 million.) But he's much richer than in 2001.

Vince is ripping off the Gargoyles cartoon for a football team.

Man, WWE director Kevin Dunn was busy this month. He didn't even have time to pick up any hot Asian chicks while on tour.

The Wildcats, Roughnecks and Defenders aren't too bad in terms of logos. Houston is definitely on the nose with that Oilers ripoff.

BattleHawks and Vipers? Those get two big oofs from me. And the Dragons wouldn't be bad, but that logo is dumb.

For the Roughnecks I think they just should have used a picture of MC Lyte.

The Renegades logo looks kinda like the Quad City River Bandits minor league baseball logo I think

Ryan Mallett announced intentions to join the XFL. He's probably going to be their new Tommy Maddox looking like a superstar because everyone else sucks.

They're going to have the XFL's Brady and Manning style epic rivalry.

Re: XFL Thread
That's only $10,000 more than they paid in 2001 even though
1) All professional athletic salaries have gone through the roof in the last 18 years.
2) The least an NFL player will be paid is $24,000 per game. These guys will get $55,000 for an entire season.
3) When you look at the inflation rate they're really being paid $15,000 less a year than the USD equivalent of the 2001 salary would be worth today.

Re: XFL Thread
Its weird because Vince owns the league and I'm assuming he owns each team too so he's going to be paying a ton of players. There's like 8 teams and if it's like the NFL with each having 53 players he's paying out $23,320,000. Which for a top tier sports star is what they'd be paid for one season.
