I've watched the first 3 eps. A lot of it reminds me of old Red Dwarf and I am laughing at a fair bit of it. Realistically though, it wouldn't bother me if this season was made or not. Everyone just looks old and tired, except Cat.

I've now watched 3 and I concur.
It's kind of samey.. It's still good, but I just find myself waiting to see when the story will progress somewhere or something special happen..
I've still got 3 episodes, and I need a highlight episode..

I kind of felt a little let down in the first 5 minutes of episode 1.

where rimmer is hostage and says: if he dies not the end of the world.
kryten: or something else
rimmer: again, if he dies not the end of the world.
kryten: or perhaps it is you, sir.
cat: Again, if he dies, not the end of the world..


Now you see that was funny... But on the subject of rimmer being taken, that seemed WAY too similar to another time rimmer was taken a line from season 6..

kryten: But, sir, we lost mr. rimmer.

Now in a normal sitcom.. this would be fine.. but this is a long running SCI FI sitcom.. with a HUGE following of passionate people.
Bio printing, tech prohibition, and snack machine doctors are all fine if it was just some show, but this is red dwarf!
Give us a flashback with a special guest; holly, kochanski, PETERSON!, cpt hollister, Hell Even get Tony Hawks back to do the voice of a vending machine..
ANYTHING SPECIAL that can tie these new episodes to the old.

I liked X but XI is very formulaic. Episode 4 has been the best so far. I think they should have went ahead with a movie or series of movies after VIII when the popularity was at its peak. Then conclude the story with Lister marrying Krissy, Rimmer getting his long awaited promotion etc and everything ties together and makes sense. Right now there isn't any real continuity and the props/costumes are embarassingly bad. The first two series are my favourite Red Dwarf and the special effects etc were cheesy but the stories and interplay between the characters distracted from the low level production values. Now it's hokey and I think Red Dwarf deserves better. Remakes never really work or bringing back shows after a long delay so they really should have struck while the iron was not and ended the show at its peak.

So I recently found my VHS of The Cat - Tongue Tied video and making of. Apparently only 100 copies were made and it's released by PMI and not the BBC. Is it classified as a rarity or collectible?. I managed to find it quite a few years back in a charity store IIRC. From looking online apparently they were sold via Red Dwarf magazine hence the limited availability. Was it ever included on the Red Dwarf dvds as an extra?. Also the Tongue Tied single and EP is available on iTunes and Amazon.

The tongue tied video is on the dvds, as well as a few interviews and words about it as part of the seasons commentary. There's also a short note on it in the collector book.

I don't know if it's the same making of you have on vhs, but probably not.

Thanks. There's a few different versions of the song (one with a vocoder), a Ragga mix and the single mix. The original Tongue Tied is more like The Foundations Build Me Up Buttercup. The making of is Danny changing costumes, bits of him directing the scenes, a story about him working on a film set and wanting to get with a dancer who he sings to in the video. There's also abut with Rob and Craig talking about things and doing impressions and such. It includes Danny singing the Red Dwarf theme at the start of the video too. It has a 1993 copyright on it so its the video and making of the single version. I prefer the one from Parallel Universe but the vocoder mix is cool.

They are more a curiosity than must see I think. Also the record label that released the song might not have let them include them on the DVDs. The vocoder mix of Tongue Tied should get a re-release.

in fact it will be fucking spring next month.
Why, in this digital, worldwide, connected, day and age, can't everyone just put the fucking month something comes out??

From the titles alone, the series finale looks good.
Ace and Skipper? you sound like a series about a boy and his bush kangaroo!

Also from the titles alone, Timewave looks too similar to Timeslides, or out of time, or a time hole!
