This unlocked some latent memories of watching weird Christian entertainment at church.

Don't forget about the latest hit from Eurovision!

That singles chart is awful.

The albums chart isn't great either, but there are some good ones on it here and there.

It's funny how all the shit on the chart gets bumped up to good next to fucking Macy Gray....
And on behalf of ANYONE on planet earth who was even alive when Macy Gray made music, I AM SORRY, I am so, so, SO SORRY!

Hearing Macy fucking Gray sing for more than 2 seconds makes me envy the fucking deaf and deceased.

Fucking worst signer of all time.

Lost out on #1 to Morgan Wallen, although they sold more physical copies with big vinyl sales he had more streams.

There's some classics on there. Hypnotize, Return Of The Mack, Your Woman, Staring At The Sun, Naked Eye, It's No Good. And Say You'll Be There was the best song Spice Girls did.

I think by the next month the majority of the top 20 involved Puff Daddy in some way, and that got old quick. And it was like that for a year until DMX saved hip hop from the Bad Boy evil empire.

It is a pretty good chart. A bunch of bangers. And some dreary stuff like that Jewel song.

Jewel was pretty hot in 1997 so as a 13 year old I didn't mind seeing her lovely breasts on MTV. But, yeah, she was part of a bland era of music with Hootie and Dave Matthews and Alanis Morrissette.

Return of the Mack is inexplicably weirdly popular.
In the past I wanna say 5 years I hear it all the time, EVERYWHERE for some fucking reason.

I would understand hearing it occasionally, it's not a bad song, in fact it's quite good and I liked it. But traditional radio in Australia loves this fucking song, almost as much as YouTube tries to get me to play it and it's not just the classic stations... It's all of them. I've heard return of the Mack on I think every single station except for the ABC stations in the past 2 years alone.

It doesn't matter if you're in the middle of Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran, return of the Mack will show up for some reason.
It doesn't matter if you're in the middle of Queen and Dire Straits, return of the Mack will show up for some reason.
It doesn't even matter if you're between the original A music from Gameboy Tetris and some electronic band even I have never heard of on student radio at 3 am, RETURN OF THE MACK will show up for some reason.

The Mack has been returned fucking constantly, people need to stop playing the fucking song so the next time I hear it, it's actually returning.

The only single song in all of human history to be played into the fucking ground more than return of the Mack is triple M playing To her door by Paul Kelly and nothing else for the past 30 years.
I liked that song too, but I never want to hear it again because it's only Paul Kelly's 374th best song..
I don't need to hear to her door for the 8 millionth time this millennium triple M... PLAY DUMB THINGS FOR FUCKS SAKE... JUST ONCE, SURPRISE ME WITH A DIFFERENT PAUL KELLY SONG. Preferably Dumb Things, but I'll take literally any of his other songs.

Yeah, smooth easy listening has played it. Along with pop stations fox, kiis AND nova, student station syn, and gold(en oldies), I've heard the song on triple R, and it's possible triple M have taken a break from To her door to play return of the mack, but I can't confirm that one personally but it really wouldn't surprise me if they have played it too.

It's sometimes turning up on foxtel music channels too, but I don't often use them.

I just don't get why it gets so much airtime on so so SO many different stations, even where it doesn't belong.

There's actually quite a lot of good in there, but the whole era will be written off in history as ever being any good thanks singlehandedly to Gwen.

Don't Cha could have been the biggest atrocity to befall humanity until Umbrella and Friday make it look like a timeless masterpiece of absolute genius, but Gwen Stefani saved it, and all the bad music that would come after it from being as bad.

It's sadder and worse because Gwen had a long history of genuinely awesome music until then, and with one swift stroke took herself to that.

It would take all music nearly a decade to recover from Hollaback girl.

A lot of classics on there. EWTRTW, Axel F, In My House, A View To A Kill, Walking On Sunshine, Raspberry Beret, Don't You Forget About Me, Smooth Operator, Glory Days, Crazy For You, If You Love Somebody, and Would I Lie To You.

And on the UK chart that week you had those plus Obsession, Shake The Disease, She Sells Sanctuary, and The Perfect Kiss for more classics.
