Forget the Game Awards, the real awards are here. Video game emulation in 2024 has been full of highs and lows and in today's episode we discuss the Best Emulators that I've been using in 2024 and showing off their features. These all run on PC but many of them also run on Linux, MacOS and some on Android. These are of course my picks, please let me know which your favorites are in the comments below!

Sega Lindbergh arcade games are some of the best Sega games ever made! The House of the Dead 4! Virtua Fighter 5! Sega Race TV....one of the best arcade racing games ever made...and now you no longer have to use Teknoparrot to play them! So no Teknoparrot Guide or Teknoparrot Tutorial required...because a new Sega Lingbergh emulator is out! Sega Lindbergh Loader! Sure it's not MiSTer FPGA or MiSTer FPGA vs emulation news but it's even better! Lindberg Loader Here:

LRPS2 is here for RetroArch! The PS2 emulator just got a massive overhaul (especially if you weren't using PCSX2 2.0) bringing a ton of new features to PS2 emulation...so let's show off what's new! PS2 emulation just got a LOT better for RetroArch users that want that retro game console vibe! Because your PC really can be the best emulator console!

Re: The Emulation Thread
I didn't even know there was an original Xbox emulator that could actually play commercial games. That is pretty cool that all these years later an Xbox emulator is finally available. However for me that is the one system I don't really care about emulating since I still have two original modded Xbox consoles loaded with games and emulators. Does the Xemu emulator support the emulators for Xbox? What if I want to emulate an Xbox emulating a Super Nintendo?

Re: The Emulation Thread
It looks like emulators should work, this video is a few years old but shows arcade games running in Xemu. The next step is running an emulator inside of Xemu on a Windows virtual machineCalavera wrote: Tue Jan 14, 2025 9:01 pm I didn't even know there was an original Xbox emulator that could actually play commercial games. Re: The Emulation Thread
Bad news for anyone using an older processor when it comes to MAME
'CPU requirements for Windows binary MAME releases
17 Jan 2025
If you’ve been following along, you’ll no doubt realise that MAME development is off to a flying start in 2025. Perhaps the most exciting feature coming in the next release is a native recompiler for 64-bit ARMv8 systems. This includes Apple Silicon, recent Raspberry Pi models, and the most popular Android devices.
After several years, we’ve decided it’s time to start taking advantage of features of newer (or at least slightly less outdated) CPUs. Starting with MAME 0.274, official Windows binary releases will require so-called x86-64-v2 features. These features have been available in all popular x86-64 CPUs for close to a decade. They were introduced in the following CPU families:
Intel “Nehalem” (2008), or “Silvermont” (2013) for low-power CPUs
AMD “Bulldozer” (2011), or “Jaguar” (2013) for low-power CPUs
VIA “Nano C” and “Eden C” (both 2015)
If you still want to run up-to-date versions of MAME on older systems running Windows, you’ll need to compile it from the source code.'
from the official page so unless I learn how to compile it once again or buy a new system, mine is rather old now, no new MAME for me

Re: The Emulation Thread
Xbone on PC with WinDurango Alpha 3, probably a faily beefy machine needed for this one I'd guess
This is not really an emulation technically speaking but rather a compatibility layer of the Xbox One console for Windows to run multiple games. An interface is available at this link and a compatibility list is available here.

Note that games can be dumped using the exploit found by the Collateral-Damage team .
Changes:
This is the third official release of the WinDurango Alpha. This game supports Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, but other games have not been tested. It is possible that other games may work with some or all of these DLLs, but compatibility is not guaranteed. Feel free to test games and report compatibility here . We have added the d3d11_x rewrite , I am told you should get better performance.
