Re: The Red Dead Thread (RDR1 coming to Switch/PS4 Aug 17)
I played through on my Xbox one X recently, and the game was fantastic! aside from playing in bed I don't see what this switch version will offer.
The PS4 version makes sense though, as people with the PS3 copy of the game can't just put the disc into the PS4 and get an update to be on their merry way.
But $50USD.. when you convert that to AUD, you could basically get an old Xbox one and a copy of the game for less.
A PC port would have been nice though...

Re: The Red Dead Thread (RDR1 coming to Switch/PS4 Aug 17)
A highly contentious release, Rockstar's new release for Red Dead Redemption didn't suggest we'd get anything new at all except resolution increases over the seventh-gen console originals. The truth is that there are some enhancements - including a big boost to overall image quality - but there's still the sense that this release could have been so much more. Switch report coming soon, by the way.

One of the advantages of R* doing a half-assed port is that it runs fairly well on the Switch.

Re: The Red Dead Thread (RDR1 coming to Switch/PS4 Aug 17)
Rockstar's wild west classic comes to Nintendo Switch in what's a surprisingly robust release all round. We get a native 1080p rendition of the game at 30 frames per second while docked. Which, as it turns out, puts it in league with the base PS4 version - though with a few cutbacks in its visuals elsewhere. Tom runs through the high and low points.

Re: The Red Dead Thread (RDR1 coming to PC???)
R* can't be bothered taking 5 minutes to release a 4k/60fps patch. Wait for the full priced remaster. One of the most enduring mysteries is the lack of a current-gen upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2. By running the PC code on a computer built from the Series X CPU and the closest we'll get to the PlayStation 5's GPU, Rich delivers a vision for how the game could look on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, modder Illusion shows us the PS4 Pro version on PS5 running at 60fps... and beyond.

In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.
There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.

Will wait for reviews. It's the in collaboration part I don't trust.
Remember when Rockstar whored out development to random fucking gooberts? It spawned GTA definitive edition, and it sucked hairy ass!
If Rockstar San Diego did everything ground up in collaboration with Rockstar North, I'd be a lot more excited for this.
The original game is a masterpiece though, so playing on the correct platform FINALLY is very appealing to me.
If it works...

Double Eleven ported it to PS4/PS5/Switch and apparently those versions are good.

Do the new versions have multiplayer? The steam listing for this shows Singleplayer. I'd like to play it multiplayer again, especially Undead Nightmare

Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition. Red Dead Redemption does not feature multiplayer content.
