Pretty good, but any state not on the east coast may as well be Nebraska...

When you leave the states on the east coast it's like south park: we're now crossing the state line into Nebraska!
And the scenery becomes nothing and a banjo riff slowly starts playing and a street sign has "Nothing" written on it.

Between each of our capital cities there is a lot of nothing, but the further west you go, the larger the patches of nothing become.

Adelaide is the most western point that can be classed as civilisation though (despite its lack of tall buildings) An hour West or North of Adelaide though and it's all just desert.

There are subtle differences between the expanses of nothingness. For example, Nebraska, Arizona and Utah are all just a little different. Nebraska has more Lutherans and Methodists than Arizona, so it's more "Midwest." Arizona and Utah have actual deserts and a lot more Hispanic and LDS influence. It's these differences that differentiate between cattle ranching country over to Tremors-esque desert folk.
