Re: Nintendo General Thread
Bring the excitement of the Nintendo World Championships into your own home with the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game! Test your speedrunning skills in over 150 challenges from across 13 different NES games. Aim for the best time in Speedrun Mode, compete for a spot on the global online leaderboards in World Championship Mode, or gather up to 8 players in local Party Mode. With "byte-sized" challenges and an automatic rewind feature, you don't need to master entire games to feel like a Nintendo World Champion!
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition launches on Nintendo eShop July 18, 2024. A Deluxe Set, which includes a gold-colored replica Game Pak, 13 art cards, five pins, and a physical game card, will also be available. Pre-orders for the digital version of the game are available now on Nintendo eShop.

Re: Nintendo General Thread
I preordered the physical. I don’t even know if I want it, but it’s such retro bait that I know I would have massive FOMO if I saw the ‘Sold Out’ button.

The NES Remix games were awesome, this seems like a different take on that idea.

I know it's not a popular opinion. But dammit, I still think the SNES and its purple looks better than the SFC.Hawq wrote: Tue May 07, 2024 3:58 am

I agree with the purple, but I disagree with the design. SFC and its carts were more streamlined.pixel wrote: Fri May 10, 2024 5:46 amI know it's not a popular opinion. But dammit, I still think the SNES and its purple looks better than the SFC.Hawq wrote: Tue May 07, 2024 3:58 am

Re: Nintendo General Thread
The SNES didn't have purple.
The real SNES, based off the the SFC was the real looker!
It was called the Hyper Nintendo Games System in America because of licencing bullshit, so it couldn't be legally called a Super Nintendo or a SNES... Sort of how like the entire world knows it's a Sega Megadrive, except for in America where it was called a Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins.

Okay, I think I figured it out. I agree the SFC console and cartridge molds are better designed.melancholy wrote: Fri May 10, 2024 2:28 pm I agree with the purple, but I disagree with the design. SFC and its carts were more streamlined.
But what's with the three shades of gray with the SFC plastics? I like the SNES's aesthetic more because the console is one color (gray or urine-beige for the older ones).
Nintendo would've had a banger had they taken the design of the SFC and adapted the SNES color palette. Please excuse the crudity of this model.

Re: Nintendo General Thread
If on a real SFC/SNES was identical otherwise but had purple power and reset buttons and a matching purple cartridge flap... I could dig it.
But since we're remaking the SNES, can we get Nintendo to FINALLY put their fucking A,B,X,Y buttons in the fucking correct positions for our ultra super hyper Nintendo!
I don't care what colour the buttons are, but having them in the correct position would be nice.

This right here is why I use PlayStation icons whenever I play PC games. Microsoft taking Nintendo’s button lettering and swapping them was the single biggest mistake in gaming. Jumping between the two consoles is impossible because no matter which I’m playing, I will hit B when the prompt says to hit A. Every damn time. This NEVER happens with PlayStation.ian wrote: Sat May 11, 2024 2:31 amBut since we're remaking the SNES, can we get Nintendo to FINALLY put their fucking A,B,X,Y buttons in the fucking correct positions for our ultra super hyper Nintendo!

Re: Nintendo General Thread
Few years ago I was talking to a guy I worked with and we were talking button layouts. I was saying the XY,BA format Nintendo uses annoys the hell out of me because no one else does it that way. His response was "yeah well Nintendo did it first" my response was "being first doesn't mean it makes sense or is right"ian wrote: Sat May 11, 2024 2:31 am If on a real SFC/SNES was identical otherwise but had purple power and reset buttons and a matching purple cartridge flap...
