Toki on the Amiga was great. Don't think I played the MD one.

WC90 was shithouse. Even the sound effects are horrible. World Soccer on the MS was better.

The Amiga version was great, the MD version had different levels if I remember correctly and the controls are about as responsive as the canteen staff at my local Tesco.

It was awarded 47% by Mean Machines.

Yeah it's good although it's not easy. Got it in a Humble Bundle a couple of years ago.

I've played worst soccer games than WC90. Kick Off was probably the best soccer game available at the time, but some ports of that game were bad. I think if they put a little more thought into WC90 it would be a half decent game. One port of kick off as part of KK Player Manager was almost unplayable, if it was based on normal kick off it would have been a fun part of the game but nope, which is why I stuck to automating the results.

Woolworths choc chip cookies, when they are on special for $3, are a hidden gem biscuit. So are Mini Wagon Wheels.

Everyone is saying "Monte Carlo this" or Tim Tam that", but no one is saying "Woolworths choc chip cookies this" or "Mini Wagon Wheels that".

It seemed like an age before we got a decent football game in Europe at that time. Cpt Tsubasa II: Super Striker came out in that year in Japan, all you needed for a European release was a World Cup license and maybe Gascoigne or Roberto Baggio as the main character... nothing but money!

Yep it was. A WC license for Cpt Tsubasa II would have been a great idea. I'd say outside of Kick Off 2, the best footie game was Sensi. Then ISS came along. Arguably Fifa but that took a while to really hit it's stride, it was rather arcadey at first. It's kinda funny now that having real name players and even real named teams was a big thing at the time. I think the first Fifa with real player names was 96. Super Kick Off on the MD had the editor so you could edit players into their real names and edit the teams too. I prefered World Cup Striker (also editable) to Fifa, a little arcadey too but had IMO better presentation and gameplay. There's another soccer game called Virtual Soccer made by Hudson soft and its a port of J.League Super Soccer. Speaking of which Japan had better soccer games before the UK. Although it seemed more so the market was for soccer management games like Premier Manager, Championship Manager etc. I also liked a C64 game called On the Bench which was an early soccer management game.

What year did you first get your C64?
1987 or 88. Came with two game packs, one with UK game shows (Bullseye, Krypton Factor, Every Second Counts & Blockbusters also Trivial Pursuit game {not a TV show}) the other game pack had Rambo First Blood Pt 2, Great Escape, Platoon, Top Gun & Miami Vice).

Virtual Soccer and WC '94 received pretty good reviews at the time but ISS was king on the consoles imo. I guess sensi was good for people who didn't have an Amiga. There was a kid on my street who had an a500 back then, SWOS was on another level really.

I liked Virtual Soccer a lot at the time. ISS is one of those pick & play games which also had great gameplay. Fifa was kinda clunky and was for a long time but was still hugely popular. I had one of the Sensi games on the SNES.

I want them to run that test again on Perfect Dark with 4 players, max sims and nothing but N-Bombs. I'm guessing frame rates of 1 or 2.

I have PD on N64 and I remember the game struggling quite a bit at times. It probably fairs a bit better on PAL machines though considering that they run 17.5% slower than NTSC
