Interesting question, if WCW & ECW manage to survive past 2001 how long do both promotions realistically last. Then, do we still get TNA, ROH & AEW or are WCW and ECW still around in 2024?

Re: Viceland's Dark Side of the Ring documentary series
If ECW got any cable TV money and spent it on small contracts on the guys who were the original ROH roster they could have survived. ECW would have had AJ Styles, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Homicide, The Briscoes, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Samoa Joe, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Xavier, Doug Williams, to name a few. Heyman would have loved that roster and done great things.
WCW who knows. Eric talked about cutting the expensive contracts if he got it. But what good was WCW if they didn't have Sting, Goldberg, DDP, Booker, Sid, Buff, Steiner, etc. Were they going to cut to the point where Kidman was world champion? And the guys they cut would go to WWE, so Nitro would be competing against all the WCW fan favorites now on Raw.

It's an interesting question. Realistically though, I think the bleeding was so bad and Paul had burned so many bridges and was in so tight with WWF that I don't think a cash infusion would have changed anything. The stars wanted to go where the most money was and WWF and other indies were smoking red hot. XPW and CZW, though trashy companies ran by trashy people, had even eclipsed ECW by this point. So they may have lasted a bit longer but the rot was already too set in by this point.
I think the only way WCW could have survived is if Jerry Jarrett had gotten ahold of it like he wanted to. He would have meshed very well with the southern way of doing business and would have done some great shit. Watch his Guest Booker video for more details, but I think if he had gotten the company they might even be around right now. He had some great ideas about how to cauterize the wounds and regrow the company from the ground up.

I saw the last WCW episode. Nothing new under the sun but the footage of folks at the last Nitro was hard to watch. I'm surprised nothing was mentioned about Jerry Jarrett almost buying the company.

Jim Ross said on his podcast that he recorded an interview for the Mick Foley episode of Dark Side Of The Ring.

Oh shit they've got a Billy Jack Haynes prison interview. This season looks way better than last year.

Yeah, the Daffney one might be too fucked up to watch. Especially if they show the last live stream she did announcing she was going.to kill herrself.

Daffney DSOTR will be very sad. Didn't someone go round to stop her but it was too late. Hopefully they tell Daff's story with respect.

He was the worst promo ever. He sounded like he was poorly reading cue cards in the clps they showed. And he wanted to be an actor

Cornette has a review of the Gilbert show
He pointed out something interesting: they didn't mention Eddie's car wreck happened the same night Jimmy Snuka killed his girlfriend. So there was one set of wrestlers in the hospital there for Snuka and another there for Gilbert both wondering what the other was doing there
