What does the saying mean that goes "One in the pink two in the sink"?

Post by Calavera »

People used to say that and I never really understood what it means. Does it have something to do with washing the dishes? I thought whoever came up with it maybe had a dishwasher like this.

And to make sure the dishwasher didn't get overloaded they came up with the saying one in the pink two in the sink. So for every 1 dish you put in the dishwasher you'd put two in the sink to wash by hand. That way you are still saving time by using the dishwasher but you ensure it doesn't get overloaded.

I tried to make a joke at this college makeout party I was at one time. Since it was a makeout par-tay with hot chicky mamas I brought my NES with me. One of the games I brought was Zelda. At one point I took used my Zelda cartridge as a coaster for my beer and put 2 empty cans in the sink. I then yelled hey y'all one on the Link and two in the sink! It got real quiet and some girl said "aww he doesn't know what that means bless his heart" And I was like duh lady obviously I know the saying is one in the pink and two in the sink. I was making a joke. Dumb broad probably didn't even know who Link was!

I even got detention because of that stupid saying. I had a pink notebook that I would take notes in during class. One time the teacher commented that it didn't look like I had copied down all the notes he had on the board. I said that is because some I write down and some I memorize. I then said one in the pink and two in the think and pointed at my head. The teacher got all mad and said that was inappropriate and sent me to the office. People seem to get really weird when you try to change the words from pink and sink to make a joke.

I know many of you here are from outside the United States so I'm not sure if the ole pink sink saying is even a thing in other far off lands like Australia. Melancholy surely has heard of it before since he is a fellow Whosure. So to those who have heard it before does it have to do with a pink dishwasher or am I just not thinking fourth dimensionally?

I think it means that when you are having sex with 1 woman, 2 other women should be at the sink washing and drying the dishes.

Hmm... you know what, that makes a lotta sense! I'm still not for sure but that could be the actual meaning! But wouldn't that be 1 in the pink and two AT the sink? I'll have to investigate more.

I'm still not convinced. Then wouldn't it be 1 in the pink and 4 in the sink? Since there would be 4 hands in the sink. Or maybe you are right and the two in the sink refers to two girls and two sets of hands in the sink.

We're getting closer to figuring out what this bizarre saying means! Roofus do you have any input on the situation?

It's a corruption of the old saying "Only one pink, bring two and you'll sink. "Back in the old sailing ship days, "Pink" referred to a new sailor on his first voyage. You'd only want to bring one along because too many inexperienced crew members on a long voyage would cause problems . Hence the warning.

It refers to fingering a woman. One in the pink means one finger in the vagina. Two in the stink means two fingers in her arse hole. The ring finger is not used.

I heard the saying one at the rink, two watching P!NK the other day.

I didn't understand it, so had to ask. Apparently this statement is where 3 friends try to go to a pink show, but due to high demand they were only able to get 2 tickets so the third friend decides to go rollerskating instead.

I always thought the saying was "one wearing mink, lots make a stink"

Of course referring to a bunch of activists not happy that someone is wearing mink fur, the most popular among all animal furs.
