This doesn't surprise me. But the game can be hosted locally so I guess it won't be updated anymore but people can still play it.

Microsoft has added Workshop support for other titles like Age of Empires 2 HD. If they add that to MCC, imagine if modders could port maps between games.

There's was an AMA on Reddit with the developers. Here are few things:
There's no timeframe for release. Reach and Halo: CE will be first with the other titles coming later.
Community-hosted servers are iffy at this point, but there are plans for a custom games browser.
Mod support is planned, but won't be available for launch.
The games will release piecemeal, with a collection available once all the games are out. No season pass.
