Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
Russo is claiming Bruce refuses to come on his show because he's pissed off Russo called him a recovering alcoholic pill abuser. But Bruce talks about it all the time, so it's like Sandman being angry you called him drunk if this is the case.

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
Don't know what Russo's beef is? The majority of it came from his book, his own words made him sound like a piece of shit and that's without the stuff he said about JR.
Plus other people have backed up Bruce's version of how most things happened in other shoots/podcasts.

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
He took the book out of context for the JR part.
The book is his manuscript from 2001 and then him commenting on it as a born again Christian talking about being ashamed he said the stuff in 2005.
So he apologises to Ross at the end of that chapter and they patched things up on JR's podcast in 2014. But Conrad left that out.
The rest of it wasn't taken out of context, that's just about whether or not you think Russo is honest about what he did for WWF.

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
When they read the bit about JR they did include the bit where Russo said that he regretted the JR stuff and that he thought that he's probably "going to hell" for it.
Bruce even said that other people used to take the piss out out of JR behind his back. But even so, the fact that Russo did all that in the first place is a bit of an eye opener.

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
Indeed, he talks utter shit.
Funny how he claims that JR is an egotist, then when you look at the Rock story JR says that he stole the third person thing off an NFL player he saw on TV. Yet with Russo "it just came to me".

Worse than that. On his rebuttal to STWW he said "well, I guess we may have both pitched the idea to Rock without knowing the other thought of it." Vince McMahon doesn't allow anything on TV he hasn't signed off on. No way they'd tell Rock to overhaul his character without McMahon giving them permission. It makes no sense. If this happened in WCW I might believe him, since shit went on TV nobody knew about all the time. But Vince has ruled with an iron fist since day one.

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
I think he said in his book that McMahon gave him a free reign , which is bullshit as McMahon has been heavily chronicled as a massive control freak. We're talking about a guy who competes with his own sneezes...

His best friend in the whole world Pat Patterson didn't have free reign. And most of his ideas were actually good and still hold up when you watch them today.

I haven't listened to it yet but wasn't really looking forward to it. Cena's not a very interesting subject matter.

TBH last week was a tough act to follow. I remember Starmaker saying on the 605 that if it wasn't for Cornette, Davis and Austin, Cena and Rico were about to be cut in OVW by WWE creative.

And Heyman saved his job on Smackdown in 2002. I don't get why they always wanted to fire him. He was an awful wrestler until he worked with Angle, Edge and Jericho in 2005. But he was like Ultimate Warrior where you'd think his charisma and physique would save his job.
But it is weird to think in an alternate universe where Heyman didn't stick up for him Cena is in TNA and Randy Orton was the face of WWE the past decade.

2002 was down to shoddy booking, could you imagine creative today saying "Sorry John, we just don't have anything for you".

Re: The Wrestling Podcast Thread
Also these fucking idiots that vote are going to make the same mistake again since CM Punk is going to win.
1) Bruce wasn't even there for him being world champion so he's going to stop in March 2008 before he even beat Jeff Hardy.
2) We have heard the story a million times. Punk was cocky and HHH talked shit about him, Undertaker thought he was a prick and gave him shit when he was on Smackdown, he won HHH over when they tagged at Survivor Series and he got a bigger reaction than DX, and that's all Bruce will say since he wasn't there for the Pipe Bomb, MITB 2011, world title run where he rarely main evented PPVs, the classic Daniel Bryan match that also led to him falling in love with AJ Lee, and his exit from wrestling.
The InVasion has also been talked about to death, but that's a far more interesting poll option.

I voted for The Invasion the other day and Punk had a big lead. Punk's even further ahead now.
